Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard build 9A321: updated feature list reveals some new goodies
Since celebrating some sort of holiday is pretty big this time of year, it seems only fitting that MacosXrumors has posted what seems to be an updated list of new Leopard goodies, based on one of the recent developer builds. While this isn't a mind-blowing list of breaking new features, there are some interesting bits in here, such as a new File Recovery feature of Disk Utility that lets you search for lost files by type, as well as a new video answering machine feature of iChat, which lets you record a short message for friends when you aren't around to answer them. These little updates that have been leaking over the last year are interesting in and of themselves, but it will be great to see the big hitters Steve will hopefully be unveiling at Macworld 07.

"ZFS.
Can't boot from it. Not standard. Don't care."
Compare:
"iPod:
No wireless. Less space than a Nomad. Lame."
Re 01:
My bet is that Expose (and Spotlight; look over the WWDC06 keynote) will have their own icons (like Dashboard) so you can access some sort of interface for them, but they won't be separate apps.
Michel:
I never said that Apple would patent ZFS file support. If you read carefully, I commented that features such as ZFS file support are invisible and there will be others that will likely be patentable.
Comprende?
I'm sure I've seen this before in a screenshot, but I noticed in pic 4 it shows the application folder and lists Expose as an App. Will this be to accommodate Spaces as part of Expose? Even if this is the case, it seems a little weird to me to move expose from the Pref Pane into a full blown app. Any thoughts or more info?

patented.. erf. you have to know, ZFS is under a sun opensource licence (it will be soon GPL). MS could integrate that if it wanted.
about the "patented" independent display , it's just one way to use that. and nothing is totally innovative , web browser (by css needs) do some independent display, as old postscript, pdf display and even some part of gnome/linux interface.
so it would be difficult for apple to forbid an other "imitation" for windows.
I don't know about everyone else, but I've seen all of these features listed on other sites for quite some time. Don't get me wrong though, they are pleasing.

With playlists and albums in iTunes and iPhoto you have to make an album/playlists, define your criteria and that's it. To edit them you have to bring up the edit options as opposed to just adding criteria in window. There's a lot of tidying up, above and beyond the whole brushed metal thing that could really show off the power and flexibility of OS X far more.

A company in Washington that will remain unnamed will find it increasingly more difficult to out-OS X by imitating OS X.

There's lots taking place under the hood, like a developers dream system, supported by Sun, Google, and Parallels. Resolution independence, fully certified Unix, and the list goes on. My guess is we will get the first public beta at Macworld and release by WWDC with some consumer goodies thrown in along the way that will fit in very nicely. I'd also be surprised if iWork '07 does not support ODF and Microsoft Office Open XML document format.
