iTunes Producer updated to 1.5.1
In the "software updates of the maybe-rich and someday-famous" department, iTunes Producer 1.5.1 should be showing up in Software Update for the select few that have it installed: music producers and record labels who are registered uploaders to the iTunes Store. (If you just have to get your hands on a copy of the tool, Scott pointed out a way; it won't do you any good without a Label Connect login.)Changes in this version:
- upload in Apple Lossless format
- upload progress display
- encrypted content support (!)
- the usual reparación de insectos.

nachX -- thanks for the Spanish tips. I blame Google translation... or perhaps I really meant to say "I helped the centipede with his upset stomach." :-)

"Bug", as a technical word, doesn't have an exact translation in spanish, it can be translated as "error", but "insecto" means an small invertebrate, like a worm, a butterfly, an ant, etc.
It could be translated as - "reparación de errores" or "arreglo de problemas", but "reparación de insecto" is like - "look, i fixed that broken leg of this bee"... lol
Eric, screenshots would be great! I would love to see how much attention Apple has at design in an application with such limited userbase.
I'm not sure I need lossless in terms of quality improvement, but please, Apple, up the bitrate to something above the bare minimum.
Does Apple Lossless support FairPlay? Oh I hope NOT.
January 17 2007 at 5:03 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyLossless??? I hope so. My budget hopes not. The only thing that's kept me from buying music from iTunes is the low bitrate. Give me lossless and I'm in! Much to my wallet's peril.
Sidenote: did Apple not anticipate this possibility long ago and have studios submit music in both lossless and 128 kbps? If Apple does start selling lossless, does that mean we'll have to wait months (years?) for the entire iTunes catalog to be available in lossless? Seems awfully shortsighted to me.
Apple Lossless uploads have been going on since May 2006 with iTunes Producer 1.4. Version 1.5.1 has one new note: It allows us to mark audio tracks as 'Gapless' for continuous playback.
