FastMac To Release MacBook Replacement Battery
A while back, we were asked in one of the Ask TUAW columns about a replacement battery for the MacBook. While there were options for the MacBook Pro, until now nothing was available for the MacBook. But now FastMac has announced TruePower models for both the Black and White MacBooks. FastMac claims "up to 5% more capacity" and the batteries feature "sensors in the integrated circuit inside the battery that detect undesirable levels of swelling and/ or a short circuit [and] will power off the battery in certain extreme conditions."These replacement batteries are due to ship "in 30 days" for $99.95 (versus $129.00 for the official model from Apple).

I'm surprised Newertech wasn't the first to do this...

Not to be a party pooper here but while the FastMac batteries are cheaper than the originals, the other claims are a little exagerated when you look at the figures, and even when you look at the bulk of the reviews carefully.
So while they may be more than adequate replacements, or backup batteries, the whole "up to 68% more" nonesense, is well, just that.

5 percent more capacity?
OK...that gives you about 7 more minutes. Thanks a lot...

Petros:
I think those claims are for the older iBooks and such. Would be nice if they clarified that, though, or put specific graphs with each system instead.
Thecompkid:
Well 5% more for less than Apple's battery price is what I would consider a better deal from both angles. Besides, who hasn't had at least one time where 5-10 more minutes of battery would have been greatly appreciated?

can someone give me advice on these macbook stains... I guess I was on of the early adopters or whatever.
I could mail this thing to Apple, but I'd rather not be without this for a whole week...
Anyone know any cool stickers I could put on this to cover up the 'heat stains' or whatever they are?
Minor thing..
