Texas Apple Store opens this weekend
Apple plans to open a new retail store this Saturday, March 9th at 10:00 AM in Austin, Texas. Apple Store The Domain (now there's an official-sounding name) is located in northwest Austin, along the MoPac Expressway at 11410 Century Oaks Terrace, near Macy's. You can find complete travel directions here. As usual, the first 1000 visitors will be rewarded with commemorative t-shirts. Visitors can also enter to win a pile of Apple stuff, including a black 13-inch 2.0GHz Intel Core Duo MacBook, a one-year membership to ProCare, an iPod nano and more.
If you're going to attend this opening in Austin, please send us links to your photos and reports! Good luck and have fun.

More coming from the real one.
I hope the north CompUSA isn't closing. I much prefer it to the alternatives. At Fry's, you have long checkout lines and you get treated like a criminal by the door monkeys. Sometimes I have to go to Fry's for the selection, but given the opportunity I would much rather hit CompUSA and save myself a lot of time and hassle.
Having an Apple store on the north side is really great. I never thought Barton Creek Mall was a good location for a store. I can't imagine ever going to Barton Creek again. Hooray!
One question - does anyone know the layout of the store? Will there be a theater area for demos like the bigger stores have for demos and classes?
I'll just park at work and run under Mopac (the duval turnaround). Sweetness.

Ha, CompUSA is the worst place to buy Macs, and they just announced this past week they are closing half their stores. I don't know why only half, that place is useless. Between Fry's and now two Apple stores in Austin, CompUSA has zero reason to exist there.
Nice! A store on the north side. Bet the CompUSA nearby isn't too happy, tho.

Correct me if I am wrong, but isn't this upcoming Saturday the 10th?
