Apple Store Vancouver (all but) confirmed
Attention, west-coast Canadians! You no longer have to envy your brothers and sisters in Toronto, who have been flaunting their trio of Apple Stores. According to ifoAppleStore, Apple's Sr. V.P. of Retail in Canada, Ron Johnson, kind of spilled the beans when asked about Apple's retail plans at a recent stockholders meeting, saying,"Patience is a virtue, and your patience will be rewarded soon."
Of course, "soon" could mean just about anything. Keep your eyes peeled, residents of Vancouver. If you see anything, let us know.

Sweet! I just hope that arrow isn't pointing to the actual location. Downtown would be much better.

The Montreal area store opened in Laval.
I am unable to even begin to fathom why.

King Edward and Cambie. Isn't there a future Skytrain station there and demographically a high income area. There is also a bus from UBC to Brentwood that goes by there. This will be a destination stop so people will find it. Also I think city hall is the geographic centre of Vancouver so this isn't far from it. I think it is a pretty smart site. Something Apple would do - thinki different.

@Gene - true, but I think completion of that particular route is still a ways off. And I for one don't want to take my Mac Pro on the Sky Train ;)

Ron Johnson is head of the Retail Division worldwide, not just in Canada. I think he's a former Target guy.

Finally - we've got the most useless, arrogant and annoying resellers in this city (particularly Westworld and Simply). I can't wait for the Apple store to come in and knock them down a few notches.

Should they get excited? They even posted for jobs for the Calgary one, but it doesn't even look like it's going to materialize, so is there guarantees the Vancouver one will?

The arrow doesn't point to the location, they haven't decided on a location yet. I agree, putting it outside of downtown doesn't make sense.

To reiterate, the Montreal store is in Laval.
Worthless.
(For those of you who don't know the city and can't see why that's a problem, I've drawn a map.)

Hm yeah, every other Mac fan in Mtl still doesn't understand why they opened the only Apple Store in some shopping mall in Laval (first that it's not in Montreal proper, second that Laval is one of those highly mocked suburbs in local pop culture, ie. the trashy suburb no one admits being from/living in).

Folks, calm down about the location. If you enter "Vancouver, BC" in Google Maps, you get the map with a big green arrow pointing at approximately King Edward & Cambie as displayed in the posting.
Rumours on ifo were initially swirling around Pacific Centre which makes sense for a high-profile, high-traffic location. But what those posts were guessing about was the new Holt Refrew store - a high end fashion chain - construction at the north end of the mall. HR opens at the end of this month and will vacate a 3 storey site at the south end of the mall. Those vacated premises might be a reasonable location for an Apple Store.

Finally! I can't wait to get a proper Apple Store here! I saw a couple in New York (including the cube) and was very impressed.
The only place I shopped at before was called Macstation, a shitty little retailer that sells Apple products above MSRP and had the nerve to sell me a used, defective macbook claiming it was new (and it was $50 extra!)

Finally! Toronto gets has how many by now?!
There were rumours that the store was going at Granville and Dunsmuir, possibly part of the refurbished Pacific Centre. Also, I believe it's supposed to be a flagship of the Canadian stores, so hopefully we'll get something similar to the big one out in SF. Can't wait for some official news!

I wish we could see some love in Vancouver, USA. The three Portland locations are still long enough a drive to deter me.

Well it's not like Toronto has very good locations. The one I went to was in some mall.
Downtown real-estate is hard to come by, especially for a computer store (even if it is Apple). At best, they'll put it on 4th Ave Kitsilano/Point Grey area, but it'll probably end up in Metrotown.

I believe the store will be mid-block, between the NE corner of Dunsmuir and Granville and NW corner of Dunsmuir and Seymour. This makes sense, as it will be right across the street from the
primary downtown skytrain station (Granville, which now has a north facing entrance), and right beside a technical
trades college (BCIT), and steps away from one axis of the main
pedestrian mall/shopping district (Robson/Granville), and also just one block from the financial district on Howe. It's a great location.

About damned time! Freakin' Apple has a very outdated list of shops / service centres in Vancouver. Finally there will be a "mothership" for us to adore. ;)
