First Pictures of Saigon Apple Store

TUAW reader Danh Nguyen was kind enough to post these photos of the new Apple retailer in Saigon, the first of its kind in Vietnam. I am not sure what "Chuc Mung Khai Truong" means, but I'll take a wild guess that it might mean "Apple Showroom". Any Vietnamese speakers who can translate, please jump right in. The sign reads "Congratulations on [the]opening [of] your Apple store showroom".
A big thank you to Danh Nguyen.

Update: Readers are correct. This is an authorized Apple retailer. Original TUAW post.

Redo all the signs, the typeface is incorrect.
Best of luck with the store,

Gotta love that 3rd world charm with the 1970's air conditioning.

"Chuc Mung Khai Truong" more or less translates as "Welcome and Felicitations to the Apple Showroom".

Direct translation of "Chuc Mung Khai Truong" means "Congratulation on the Grand Opening."

Wow, how profitable can an Apple Store be in Vietnam?

That is obviously NOT an official Apple Store. It's just a local vendor that sells Apple. I mean seriously, look at the sign right on the front, it says "Authorized Distributor" right next to the Apple logo. That means it's a privately owned company, not a company owned store.

Well, at least there are some official technicians in Vietnam now. I hope there would be more Apple's products, too little to show over there.

Actually, there are a lot of ex-pats living in Vietnam right now and some of them have Apple products, and there are a growing number of native residents that are interested in Apple.
I agree with Charles. This probably isn't an official Apple Store.

I can't imagine Apple would use an eMac in a brand new store. No way this is an official Apple Store.

It's an Apple Authorized Distributor as the sign shows, not an "Apple Store." The signage is all using Helvetica, not Apple's Myriad.

Obviously not official, though they did a pretty good job with private capital.

There are a hundred countries Apple would probably open an official store in before Vietnam, anyway. Methinks Canada, Western European countries, and possibly East Asia.

Surprised no one else has commented on this, but why do the Mac Pro's have white sides??

The correct translation of chúc mừng khai trương showroom Apple" is actually: "Congratulations on [the]opening [of] your Apple store showroom" - the use of English words is a popular way of demonstrating the 'sophistication' of foreign goods in Vietnam. It might also have been chosen as the sign is not very big and the Vietnamese for 'showroom' is "phòng triển lãm"

It could indeed be a satellite store in some respects. i know of them as i often went to the Apple store in Buenos Aires, Argentina b/c repairs to oogle, and it was on the street where i worked. It was official, but expensive and it didn't have all the courses that Chicago & NYC offer. But its a start and expats will use it, Apple retail i on fire.

Hey ... I'm from the Philippines... nobody seems to notice the new apple store here.
I mean Saigon opens a token store and it gets posted here...but one big store opens here in the Philippines and nobody notices.
