Apple releases Boot Camp 1.3 beta

If you bought one of those brand-new MacBook Pros, you have our envy. You've also got a new version of Boot Camp beta waiting for you. Beta 1.3 adds support for the new MBPs, as well as:
  • Upgraded graphics drivers
  • Improved installer
  • Localization fixes
  • Updated Help section
Upgrading from a previous version of Boot Camp is pretty easy, but you should follow Apple's instructions closely. You'll need Mac OS 10.4.6 or later, the latest firmware updates and a spare 10GB (at least). Have fun!

Thanks, Patrick!

SD, install Windows onto an internal disk and use something like Syncronize Pro X or learn how to use "dd" and clone the partition onto a fresh one on the external disk then rereun the bootloader installer for Windows and use refit instead of Apple's efi booter. Apple's efi booter was crafted to prevent using any system (Except OSX I think) on an external drive, but refit will allow it if you can get the system files there in the first place.

#11 and #13:
I'm having the same problem. My KbdMgr.exe actually does exist in c:Program FilesBoot Camp, but it won't run when I double click it. I recently installed a trial of Parallels (v2, before the new release) and I was wondering if that might've messed with something.

Will BootCamp ever allow the Windows partition to be on an external Firewire HD? I could really use that...

Download the new Boot Camp 1.3, but still having problems with the graphic drivers not working with my Epson LCD projector. The projector works fine on the Mac OSX side.

How long have your download times been? I have a pretty fast internet connection (Verizon FiOS; 15 Mbps) and it has a download time of 2 hours. (well it's said 1 hour, 18 minutes for the past hour, even though it's half way done.) Anybody else slow?

Yes, I too have noticed that none of the fn shortcuts work on my MBP. It's because kbdmgr.exe is not running. You can tell because the Boot Camp Manager tray icon (the one that looked like a keyboard key with an "A" on it) doesn't show up after installing the 1.3 drivers. I've tried reinstalling the 1.3 drivers several times, and it won't show up. I even tried going straight to kbdmgr.exe (located under C:/Program Files/Boot Camp), but it still won't show up. If anyone can find a fix for this please post it here. In the meantime I will try to find a fix for the problem.

I also can't get it to let me download 1.3. It keeps giving me 1.2, and I'm using a Macbook Pro, just not one of the new ones.
