We've seen scorched Macs before, but nothing quite like this. After a devastating fire at their Boulder home last week, Gwen and Paul returned to find their formerly sleek white MacBook decidedly crispier. To find out what version of Mac OS you are running, go to the Apple logo in the top left corner, click it and choose About This Mac. From that window you will see the version number, processor, memory and chosen startup disk. Clicking Software Update will check for updates, and More Info... will open up an extensive list of everything on your machine.

I think it looks rather like the Necronomicon of lovecraft/evil dead/army of darkness fame. It would be amazing if it still worked! I'd love to have a Macronomicon!

My MacBook is on my lap as well -_-
Anyway, I doubt the MacBook was the cause of the fire, as they do not have battery issues (that I've heard of). Also, the MacBook would have been worse off than that. Normally, the laptops that ignite have holes in them, where hot gas exploded from the battery.
...
I just moved my computer off my lap ;)
