Construction on Munich's Apple Store
Workers are busily constructing Germany's first Apple Store in Munich. AppleInsider has photos of the 4 story construction project - and surrounding barricade - which is covered with iPod advertisements. There's certainly no question as to what they're building. It's scheduled to open in the 2nd half of 2008.While we appreciate the sneak-peak that AppleInsider has provided, we know you can do better. If you're near 1 Rosenstrasse in Munich (formerly home to Sport Schuster sporting goods) let us know what's going on! We're excited to see the launch of such a huge flagship store (and Germany's first!).

@ Ijan what you said is bullshit! Munich has the second biggest airport in Germany and the best airport in whole Europe! There is a great transit system from the airport to the Apple Store and in the future there will be even a transrapid!
Munich rules!
FINALLY APPLE COMES TO GERMANY!!! HOW LONG DID I HAVE TO WAIT FOR THAT? THANK GOD THEY DID NOT EXTEND THEIR OFFER IN SATURN!!!
Is one coming to Berlin? I know about Gravis.de but it's not really the same.

My wife and I were fortunate enough to live in Muinch for a year in 2005-2006, returning last summer. Our apartment was actually about 2 blocks away from that location. That is right in Marienplatz, or Center City, if you will (not a translation, but that's what it is). Center city Munich is a several block shopping district that is fully closed off to traffic and has lots of upscale and tourist shopping. Munich may be the heart of Bavairia (i.e. you wouldn't think twice about seeing men walk around in Lederhosen), but it's still a very cosmopolitan city.
Rosenstrasse/Marienplatz is the PERFECT location for an Apple store in Munich. On any given weekend, Marienplatz is jammed with tourists and shoppers, and hosts concerts and gatherings regularly. Not to mention, the annual month-long Christmas festivals that is centered in Marienplatz will bring untold thousands of people though there daily.
When we left Munich last summer, they were in the process of demolishing that building. I wish they had started on this a couple years ago....
btw - in the first picture, you can see a building in the background that appears to be under construction. That is the Munich City Hall (Rathaus), and it has quite a history (like, oh... serving as one of the first office's for Hitler in the 1920s) and is a beautiful building. It looks like they have it covered in scacollding for cleaning, but when they finishing cleaning, it will serve as a stunning backdrop for the Apple Store.
here are some pictures of the Rathaus and the famous Glockenspiel

Actually there is an official joint called "Apple Shop" in City of Hamburg's 'Saturn' (the world biggest department store offering only and consumer electronics).
Pictures can be seen here (Saturn:http://www.saturn.de/frontend/html/outlet/40/outlet.html) and here (Apple Shop: http://www.spiegel.de/fotostrecke/0,5538,21549,00.html).
Unfortunately the 'Shop' is very small just like the pictures tell you.

Munichâ¦Muâ¦MUNICH!!!!!!???? For god sakes, NO!
This is the worst place for a german apple store.
-First it's a pain in the ass to get over there.(From every part eccept Munich).
-second- they are the most german part of Germany( at least Bayern the "state").
There are way better places, like Hamburg or Berlin. All very beautifull cities, with much culture.
I actually preffer Hamburg.
*cries*
Greetings from bremen. (No I hate soccer, that one only germans will get ;-))
