Leopard Watch: Unix
Leopard Unix is getting an upgrade. According to Apple, Leopard UNIX will be an Open Brand UNIX 03 Registered Product, conforming to SUSv3 and POSIX 1003.1 specifications. That means the next generation of OS X will be fully leaded UNIX without any odd dialectical quirkiness. Sure, you'll still have access to some great Mac OS X-only command-line utilities, but UNIX itself will be fully certified.
To take advantage of that newly updated UNIX command line, Leopard's new Terminal 2 (for some reason I keep thinking of Arnold Schwartzenegger when I see that new name) offers an updated interface, with tabbed sessions and a completely overhauled inspector and settings pane. I have a deep attachment to the current incarnation of Terminal and I hope the new version will be as pleasant to use.
Thanks to everyone who sent this in.

As long as antialiasing is still optional--I like it OFF for some things--I'll be happy. Otherwise, I'll try dragging a copy of Terminal.app over and launching that. :-) (My co-worker is at WWDC--I'll check it out Monday.)

Yeah, I hate antialiasing for writing code and using the terminal.

That's awesome about the terminal. I was just getting down with iTerm last night and this morning. So to have an update to terminal is really nice.
good stuff. Hopefully it will have the command to go fullscreen and back like iTerm i've been really digging that.

Does this mean we can finally boot into to the command-line without being in single-user mode?

It's probably a silly thing to hope for, but I'd like to see some sort of integration between this and screen. I already use screen when I'm ssh'ing in to servers, or even just on my own (local) machine, and it would be truly wonderful to get my screens listed not just in Terminal's titlebar (which was an unexpected and lovely feature!) but in actual tabs. On the other hand, it might be nice to have a different screen session in each tab... I'm torn!
Either way, tabs are a welcome addition. I look forward to seeing what else it offers.

More importantly for Terminal 2, does selecting text have the option to auto-copy to clipboard, and can you paste with middle-mouse button?

Real men don't use tabs in terminal because real men use GNU Screen.*
*Applies to women as well.
