Apple releases MacBook Pro Software Update 1.0

We don't have a whole lot to go on for this one, but Apple has released MacBook pro Software Update 1.0. What's in it, you ask? Well, it "provides important bug fixes and is recommended for all 2.2/2.4GHz MacBook Pro models" (the most current ones available as of this writing). Sorry folks, but that's all the update page says. If you don't see this in Software Update, head on over to said update page and get to updatin'.

I would imagine this relates to the Intel Core 2 Duo bug fixes that they've been announcing to plug some security holes.

Its probably to crank the fans up to 11 to compensate for the 12oz of thermal paste on each chip. Thats just my idea.

I installed the update on my 2.2 Ghz LED MacBook Pro. I can't see any changes yet. I noticed that the graphics is still buggy, example: zoom in with touchpad and you´ll se that the screen "jumps" a few pixels around. When watching youtube-movies for example, the navigation-bar jumps around if you zoom in on the movie. My old MacBook Pro 2,16ghz, doesnt do this. But then again, that computer uses ATI radeon while the new one uses the Nvidia Geforce.

I've been experiencing some weird display issues... totally a graphics/quartz/driver issue... wonder if this will fix it.
Time will tell...

You guys better back stuff up before installing this. Who will be the first with the "it bricked my macbook pro" post?

I installed it (2.4GHz 15"). No flames shot out of the computer or anything. Can't really tell what's different yet.

F%$k! I just got the update and my wireless no longer works!
I had already installed the 10.4.10 update from days ago, and everything was fine until I run this specific update.
Any ideas of how to fix it or roll it back? I'm new to Mac (bough my MacBook Pro two weeks ago) :(
PS: I have a Linksys router.

Yeah..... until I hear of anything major being fixed I think I'll hold off on this update. The risk of the patch breaking something seems to far outweight the risk of it fixing something I care about.
Why dont they give us some release notes or something. Why the hell did they put this out?

My 15" Macbook Pro is running almost 10 degrees cooler now that I installed this update (44 degrees C compared to about 52 before)

I wish they had some kind of release notes. I have a macbook pro intel core 2 duo w/2.16 ghz and I don't know if I should run/not run the update. It is required for the 2.2 and 2.4 kids. sigh.... If there is nothing but the nvidia updates, I'll pass.

I have been experiencing odd freezes which I believe to be related to the graphics drivers. Updated today and so far, so good.

Worked for me. Screen rotation works fine (although it's hard to set when you rotate the screen first; mouse movement is a challenge :-), DVD burning still works and I do have a working Airport connection.
No idea if the slowness of Unreal Tournament, as noted by MacWorld, has improved.

I have no idea if it has to do with this update, but my MBP's curser has started to disappear, shake and act erratically. If that wasn't bad enough, when I do get it to work and clicked on a drop-down, the drop-down menu starts rolling (up) everytime I try to scroll down...then it becomes "possessed" - really. If I am lucky and can finally get the curser to click on the Apple to try to shutdown and get to the shutdown drop-down. It won't let me click on shutdown now, and starts making pumping error noises. Yikes!!! I took it to the Genius Bar last Friday and they replaced the "top deck"...thinking this fixed the problem I brought it home yesterday and afer almost 40 minutes of wonderful bliss thinking the problem was fixed. All the issues come back again.
Oh yes, and this is my personal favorite....when I was able to click into google to try to do a search to see if others had just some of these problems...it typed in the letters BACKWARDS, as in SDRAWKCAB....oh yes...no lie!!!
This is my first Mac and I have pampered it, installed all upgrades to keep it current...no liquids within 10' of it, really have only used the photo features, Adobe Photoshop, Safari, and iChat - Don't even have any iTunes downloaded, nor use most of the other programs factory installed.
I am so sad....I so wanted to love my Apple, and now I am regretting not getting another Dell laptop!
I have another appointment today to drop it off again...thank goodness I bought the 3 yr warranty!
Thanks for letting me vent!
