This week's rig comes from reader nash_h, who modded a Cube to look like a tiny Mac Pro. First of all, we love Cubes and secondly, this is one sweet mod. Nice job, nash_h."new mac pro" posted by nash_h.
If you'd like to see your own rig featured here, simply upload photos into our group Flickr pool. Each Sunday we'll comb through the most recent entries and declare a "Rig of the Week!"

I normally don't post here, but when someone is ripping off someone elses work I feel the need to.
Here is the original Power Mac G5 Cube mod done by a Japanese modder:

I can't stand it when people rip off other people's work without giving them credit.

Looking at his flikr page, it looks like all his photos are taken from elsewhere rather than photos he's taken.

Perhaps the Bel Air, MD police would be interested in this?

I'm glad other people have beaten me to replying to this article. I remember reading about the original G5 mod when I was looking to mod my own cube a few years ago!
Shame on you Nash_h..boooooooo!

I'll just add my voice an call FOUL! This dingus is a rip-off merchant and a liar. He posted a mod we've all seen before (and it is an excellent one, no doubt) from a guy in Japan, and then tried to claim on his Flickr library it was a new Mac Pro! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. I laughed and fumed at the same time...

Justin: No, but he posted it to rig of the week which is supposed to show your own rig - in doing so, he made it appear to those who hadn't seen it before that it was something he created.

i never claimed to have modded anything and
as the last guy said -- i found the pictures and posted on my flickr account. the title of the picture represents what it looked like to me. no shit it isn't a real apple product. Isn't there an iPhone story to publish?
And for the record, I think Apple should come out with something like this on their next revision of the mac mini. or some sort of a consumer model in between a mac pro and mini. they would fly off the shelves.

wow... I remember checking this out 2 years ago. I had to use some pretty bad japanese to english translation to understand what he did.
I hope you guys at tuaw take this down and give credit to the true modder.

I'm not sure if anyone of you know that the current Mac mini was created with the exact same dimensions as many 3rd party card radios. This was done on purpose as apparently quite a few companies went to Apple asking for this.
This might just be a rumor but it seemed like a good reason for having those exact dimensions.

Not a bad rig. Just confusion about who created it. It's an excellent looking rig.

andrew harrison: You are correct, sir.
Whether nash_h is guilty of stealing the work of another modder is irrelevant. What concerns me is that no attempt was made to verify the authenticity of these supposed mods (ie. Rigs of the Week). Perhaps a more rigorous set of entry criteria should be established. Regardless, that's some sloppy journalism TUAW.
