The Clockwork Pismo

If one were to draw a Venn diagram of my interests this clockwork Pismo mod would fall squarely in the overlapping circles of 'Steampunk' and 'Apple tech.' Tom Mordasky at MacMod.com took some broken clock gears, aluminum, a sharp knife or two and created a thing of beauty. Pictured above, before he applied some glossy paint, this Pismo (which is a G3 Powerbook, for those of you who are only familiar with Apple's more recent metallic efforts) looks like something Jules Verne would be proud to write with.

I didn't notice in the linked page where the modder got the gears.

Pismo FTW. Im almost more excited about my "new" Pismo than I was when I got my MBP.

I would like it better on an original tangerine iBook. A Clockwork Tangerine, anyone?

That really was a lovely Powerbook. I remember seeing it on Buffy first. Willow had one. I'd love to get one, if only I could keep the power of my Macbook Pro.
Mmmmm

Looks like a cool mod. I love my Pismo. I bought it used a few months ago and I liked it so much I sold my 1.67 Aluminum PowerBook. I set up a blog to follow my travels wit this wonderful computer.

I agree, I miss my Pismo. Since then I've had a TiBook, 12" Al, and several desktop macs, but I still liked that Pismo most, design wise. Weird, huh.

Ah, the Pismo. Yes, the new MacBook Pros look great, but nothing (yet) tops the beauty of the Pismo-era PowerBook.

I miss that machine...
