Top Chef challenge winner gets MacBook Pro
If you're a fan of Bravo's Top Chef and you haven't watched last night's episode yet, I won't spoil it by telling you who won the challenge and who got eliminated. I will tell you, however, that the elimination winner received a MacBook Pro 17" as the award for the best performance in the challenge. Not too shabby.Considering the consistently high level of product placement on Bravo's shows, it's not all that surprising to see a Mac in the mix -- style maven Tim Gunn even sports a MacBook Pro on the host desk for his new show. What I wasn't expecting was the high level of enthusiasm the winner showed for the prize -- jumping up and down with glee, and the other chefs writhing in disappointment. Very nice.
Thanks, Heidi.

Was it the 'Pimp my ride' style of jumping up and down with glee, or the other kind?

I knew I should've been a chef rather than a programmer!

...Be a chef, win a computer ?!#$
I'd rather be a the head chef @ a restaurant like Hell's Kitchen
After getting that job, i'll be able to buy what the 'hell' I want !!!

You're so right. I thought the same thing. I'd love to spoil it by commenting on individual reactions, but I won't. Suffice it to say that this was the best moment of the episode, and it was good episode. Only 6 chefs left!

Even less surprising, given that the same production company is behind 'America's Next Producer' on TV Guide Network. Apple has major product placement on that show (all the editing is done in Final Cut Pro, and all the contestants use MacBook Pros). Maybe they had a MacBook Pro left over from that show...

Not to mention, Bravo TV network is owned by NBC Universal.
