Apple issues iTunes Store credits
The Apple Blog is reporting that Apple has begun issuing Apple Store credit for customers who had trouble getting songs last week.It seems that several customers were unable to download purchased songs, despite having provided a valid credit card number. Specifically, Apple has issued an email that reads,
"Please accept the following Five Song Credits as an apology for the delay in receiving your purchase. These credits are good for five songs of your choice from the iTunes Store."
Have any of you received this message, or made use of your credits?

I had issues with the iTunes store when I tried to purchase an album, asked me to update my card details. I did this tried about 6 times to purchase the album and it wouldn't let me...yet I didn't receive any credit. iTunes store seems to be down too at the moment :(

Apparently I complained more than others. Before the problem was fixed I asked them to reverse my credit card charge and they did plus they gave me 5 song credits. I expected them to remove the 9 songs from my purchase history but they didn't so once the problem was fixed iTunes automatically downloaded the songs. Shortly after that I got the generic apology message and 5 more song credits. So, I ended up with my 9 songs for free plus 10 song credits.

I didn't. Well, I asked for a refund while the problems were still going on. But as I was waiting for the refund, my 3 songs downloaded. Then a day later they issued the refund. Good enough.

Yup, I got my five songs credit.. didn't work though. Got an error saying "This code is only valid for costumers of the US store." After sending an email to the iTunes Store I got a reply saying: I have sent this request to our engineering team so that they can look into this issue, and I hope to have a resolution for you very soon." Haven't heard anything new in over a week.

Big deal! They've charged me far more than that for a few albums and STILL haven't fixed the problem so I can download them from the store.
iTunes Support is non-existent. All I get are some boilerplate e-mails every four days telling. My only recourse is to dispute the charges with AMEX.

Meh. I had trouble downloading, e-mailed for support, and then two days later was able to download. No credits, though.

iTunes Store support can be very slow, but I haven't once had a problem they didn't solve eventually, and without much prompting. One gets the impression that the team is fairly small and a bit overworked.

Bah. I downloaded the new Kanye West album because of the two bonus tracks and one of the tracks didn't download.
I got 2 free tracks and am still waiting for them to decide if they're going to give me the song or a refund. Both would be nice.

I've just had the entire first season of Grey's Anatomy (don't ask why!) refunded after trouble downloading them. I'm based in the UK.

For the past 3 days I've been unable to download purchased videos from the iTunes store and, until today, my messages to support have been answered by apologies saying the store has been experiencing heavy traffic and "some problems." But the response I just received says "Apple takes the quality of the items offered on the iTunes Store seriously and will investigate the issue with this item, but I can't say WHEN OR IF the issue will be resolved. Please try again in a few weeks." They said I would receive a credit for the purchased TV series' but that's obviously not what I want, mid-way through the seasons and without any other access. WTF????
