34 Free Songs at iTunes
TuneCore is offering 34 free song downloads at the US iTunes store. No, it's not any 34 songs, it's 34 songs by artists who are TuneCore customers. TuneCore, as we've posted before, is an iTunes listing service that helps artists get their music on the iTunes Store.
To get your free tracks, visit their free album page and generate a unique iTunes code. Artists on the free album include the Dandy Warhols (famous for the Veronica Mars intro) and Maureen McCormick, of the Brady Bunch. How is the actual music? The quality, er, varies. Let us know what you liked or disliked in the comments.

@iRobot:
TuneCore lets the Little People get their music into the iTunes store. I work with a local band in Minneapolis (Greazy Meal, in case you're curious), and we'd gotten no love from soliciting Apple directly. TuneCore gave us a great deal, and made it very easy to get the music on the store and widely distributed.

@Erica, the Dandy Warhols were famous way before VM. Check out "Thirteen Tales From Urban Bohemia" it's great

Don't know about the rest of it, but I've been a huge Dandy Warhols fan for a long time. I HIGHLY recommend giving them a shot, especially now that you can demo a song for free.

Steve Vai FTW. Though I've already had that cd for years, it's a really good song.

iTunes Plus? In other words: DRM?

Kevin said 7:32PM on 11-27-2007
Yes, they are protected AAC's, not DRM-free.
Great selection, something for everybody, I would think. I'm not fond of Public Enemy, but found some gems in the bunch that I'm glad to have.
In all, a great promotional idea. I'm hoping they do it again soon!

I prefer not to listen to explicit lyrics and have the iTunes store configured accordingly. I was interested the the code skipped that setting. If iTunes thinks I bought them then it figures I've made the decision to override. Not looking a gift-horse in the mouth, mind you, I know where the delete button is. Just observing.
