MacBook Air Guided Tour

Following in the grand tradition of the iPhone guided tours Apple has posted a guided tour of the new MacBook Air. Available in QuickTime, of course, for download (iPod or large versions) and in a variety of streaming sizes.

This guide will answer any questions you might have about just how thin this thing is (it is very thin) and just might get you to open that wallet of yours and increase your consumer debt.

If it was a $20 application package that all iPod users had to pay (even going forward as an add-on) I wouldn't have been quite so irritated. I'm taking a guess that the iPod touch isn't going to get a price "bump" of $20. How does Apple not think that current iPod owners won't take this as a slap in the face?

I hope "we" as the current touch toting populous don't prove to them that this "upgrade" philosophy is acceptable (though I have my doubts).

So it's smaller than my Macbook, and it's also slower with less hard drive space and no optical drive. It weighs less, but

It has no built-in WiMax or Edge or GPRS. It has an aluminum case, so it's 802.11 is gonna be horrible just like it was with my old Tibook.

At least it costs 70% more.

Pass.
