Please note, this is a firmware upgrade that will install an application in the utilities folder that you will then, in turn, need to open and follow the on-screen instructions. For a list of MacBooks that may need the update, you can look at the Apple support note.
If you computer has been affect by these issues, or if you are just inclined to installing all Apple updates, you can get this update by opening Software Update (Apple Menu > Software Update) or by downloading the installer package from the Apple Support downloads site.
Thanks to everyone that sent this in!

Good question. Usually don't have my Air "sitting idle" unless sleep mode counts.
Let me rephrase for the rest of the pedantic crowd: If I were to run Software Update on my Air, would this update show up?

As the Nike marketing droids like to say, Just do it! Give it a shot and see what happens.

Is everyone else able to open this? The download went OK and the .dmg mounts, but when I double-click the .pkg inside it appears in the Dock for about .25 seconds and then closes again. Copying to the Desktop and opening does the same. Redownloading does the same.

"Software Update" for the win…

Thanks for the tip, but then why is it a separate download? This still implies the standalone installer is broken AND it prevents those of us who administer fleets of MB's and MBP's from pushing the update via ARD.

I thought it was an update to allow us to rotate, resize, etc. :(

You should have mentioned that this update is for Leopard users only.
For those of us who still like Tiger, we get squat.

Carlos -- yes this does seem to happen to us Tiger users as well; and I was hoping this fix would help us Tiger people too, but alas :(
