Louisiana's first Apple Store will open on Thursday
Apple fans in Louisiana, your wait is almost over. ifoAppleStore is reporting that your state's first Apple Store will open this Thursday, March 6th at 10:00 A.M. You'll find it at Baton Rouge's newly expanded shopping area at The Boulevard. With the opening of this new store, only 13 US states lack an Apple Store.
As usual, we're asking any TUAW operatives who visit this weekend to send us stories and photos. Good luck, have fun and we're hoping you score a T-shirt!

That's me, eh. :)
Nice how my former home (I was an LA resident (Metairie, just outside of N.O.) up until Katrina (lost my house to the storm) is getting an Apple Store before my adopted home (Bryant, AR, just outside of Little Rock); I didn't figure on an Apple Store in LA for years.

So they actually *use* computers over there in Louisiana?

Of course we don't use them. We just stack them up to build levees. And we sometimes make crab traps out of the Al cases. We also ride alligators to work.

This should definitely be a top 5 place to loot.

Avoid the long wait times and walk across the street to the Apple Shop in Best Buy. I would be happy to serve you.

Wow, another TUAW reader in LC, I have hope for this place yet.

For real. :-( Even our Best Buy doesn't sell macs. :-( That is if you dont count mice, keyboards and AEBS. Which I don't. I will be at the new one leaving here at 5am :p. So far the closest one is in Beaumont and that is only an authorized reseller. I hope to see you there. Tom

I've been waiting a long time as I've seen from unconventional or typical places or methods that there are probably quite a few more Mac users in LA the other LA and in Baton Rouge. There are many economic reasons for this I'm sure as probably detailed on infoapplestore.com and one of them might have been the hurricanes Katrina and Rita. I always thought that the 1st store would be in New Orleans or possibly somewhere else. I was hoping for a stand alone shop but at least this one is better than nothing at all! ;-) I'm trying to line up a way to go if possible on GA Day. Gotta see if I can snag some goodies! I wonder what they'll give away? MacBook Air maybe?

Aww Baton Rouge is getting one before us here in New Orleans?
Sucks, we should easily have one in the Riverwalk, or next to Sachs & 5th Avenue.

Yeah, I would have expected one in New Orleans first, too. But now that I'm at school in Baton Rouge during the week it doesn't really bother me :]

I would've been happy with a New Orleans location or anything within a reasonable driving time but of course closer to where you live, work or attend school is a big bonus!

I wish I know what and if there will be an assortment of goodies besides the t-shirt. Or if there's a sweepstakes that you can enter after grand opening day. Right now it looks like I won't be able to go and that sux. LSS/Long Story Short: I need transportation since I can't drive my own vehicle, a stick shift, due to surgery on my left foot. :-( Oh well, maybe someone out there will post a few pics and any pertinent information. Maybe I'm not missing much. :-| I suppose if this store is a success, which I'm sure it will be, maybe I'll attend the next closest one in the near future. I thought this would be an ideal time to go since I'm assuming the line will be short, the initial crowd will be minimal due to the odd day Thursday, no holiday, I'm not working right now and short notice.
