Starbucks offers free iTunes "Pick of the Week"
Apple and Starbucks are at it again, this time with a new Pick of the Week iTunes offer. Basically each week Starbucks will distribute cards good for a free download of a hand-picked song from the iTunes Store. Starting this week the first such song is the Counting Crows' "Washington Square."It's not entirely clear what you have to do to get a card, but presumably it involves a purchase. A new card will be available each Tuesday. Once you get a card you have 60 days to redeem it.

Every starbucks should have them by the register or where the cds are. If not, they are screwing up or they haven't got the shipment yet.
Before, starbucks used to give out cards like this with a new song/artist a day. That promo lasted for two months last year around thanksgiving. This is an entirely different promotion, where instead of new songs a day, it's a new song a week. And there are only FOUR different songs being given out for this promo, so it's nothing exciting.
Yes I work at starbucks.

Are you asked to dispose or do anything with the previous weeks card
Several Starbucks here have been doing this for the last 6-8 months. Old news?

Similar deals, but still different.
Why not also have a "pick of the week" a la iPhone wifi download?

I'm surprised I'm the first Starbucks partner to reply to this, but yes - we did start carrying the free download cards today. We received the cards yesterday, and were given instructions to put them on the CD stand. We also started carrying $25 iTunes gift cards and some new digital releases. No purchase necessary for the free downloads, if you can't find them on the CD stand ask a barista where they might be.

April 15 2008 at 5:26 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyGotta love free music like this, but I'm still waiting for them to roll out the Starbucks iTunes store for iPhone / iPod touch here in L.A. Wasn't that supposed to come here last month?

I have a dozen of the cards sitting on my desk, I have redeemed maybe 1/2 of them.
