Vancouver (BC) Apple Store opening May 24
There's good news for our friends in British Columbia: Vancouver's Pacific Centre Mall is getting a brand-new Apple Store on the upper level.
The store will hold a grand opening celebration this Saturday, May 24, starting at 10 a.m. The first thousand customers will get a free Apple t-shirt.
Thanks to everyone who sent this in!

But I presume no iPhones in this one(for now :/ )
I'll probably go to the opening, see if I can score some free swag.

Now onto Eastern Canada! All 20 of us want a store, other than driving/flying halfway across the country to one of the 3 in Toronto.

Although it would be nice if there were more Apple Stores more east, most likely won't happen. Most retail stores go through a specific process where they survey the area to see if it would work but Apple operates beyond that. Even with the popularity of the Apple name, Steve Jobs isn't going to just place stores anywhere even knowing full well the name itself will attract customers. If you've been one of those people who reg. checks to see any job openings in any Apple Store, you might have seen one where Apple was going to open one in I think Calgary but ultimately they bailed on it (even with the potential Calgary had to run one).

Andrew: Considering how hip Montreal is, you would think they'd have an Apple Store by now.

Montreal has an Apple Store.. in Laval (northern subburb). ;)
There is a second one under construction on Ste-Catherine Street though, right next to Ogilvie (opening this summer?).

Actually, the job listings at Apple already show upcoming stores in Edmonton at West Edmonton Mall, and in Calgary at Market Mall in the northwest area of the city.

That's cool that Calgary is getting an Apple store after the first failed attempt. Before a store was opened here in Canada, I was hoping to see at least a store in Vancouver, Toronto, Montreal and Calgary (the major cities which most likely will draw interest, not that the Apple brand itself doesn't draw enough itself!) It's nice to see more opening but still wondering when a flagship store announced? (new or existing stores..)

Finally. I'll be able to take my clunky iMac into the store and have it repaired while I wait? (My iMac suffers from the "pulled cord o' death syndrome - look it up on Apple's forums). I haven't had it repaired yet because I don't want to ship the bloody thing. About friggin' time.

Robert Palmer, you got this information from Palluxo! who was the first one to break this story, and yet, you failed to give them a credit. That's a low punch and you should re-consider giving credit to your sources, in this case, Palluxo! is the source:

Actually, I've never seen that site before, ever. We had many people contact us on May 20 when they received an email directly from Apple that the store was opening. I'm sure several of these commenters can verify that they received the email, and many of them probably sent in tips.
Nice angle to try and plug your site, though. Next time, consider sending us a tip: http://www.tuaw.com/tips

It is about time, however what's with the free tshirt crap, so many other openings, especially city firsts, first people through the door received goodie bags and occasionally computers..
Bah.
