Thinvelope for MacBook Air

Since the MacBook Air was introduced with its iconic envelope commercial there have been a variety of envelope style cases. However, the Thinvelope from BeyzaCASES is really in a class by itself, combining high quality leatherwork with what looks like an extremely elegant design. Over at Gear Diary Judie Lipsett has a rave review with plenty of pictures, comparing it favorably with designer leather goods costing much more. That said, the Thinvelope is itself a pretty penny at $215. But, really, isn't your MacBook Air worth it?

You'll have to spend another $400+ for it to be practical though. Thing seems designed to fit in a briefcase.
Without a handle or strap I don't see it being worth it on it's own. Wouldn't want to carry it any great distance (at place of business / on campus or just morning commute) under my arm, just too risky. So, what's the point of making something so "stylish" if it will never be seen whilst nestled in another container - be it an equally stylish and expensive Briefcase or everyday book bag / bag?
Don't have or want a MacBook Air though, and I never buy ornamental leather products so... heh, definitely not for me! :P

So you're critical of it for it's shortcomings, yet would never even consider it seeing as you don't (and don't want to) own an Air nor "ornamental leather products"?
'kay.

Yes, I believe I stated just that. Is it a crime to be critical of a product?
That particular product isn't for me, a few modifications (in design and price) and I'd probably buy it. Probably not though, as it would be just like every other decent laptop sleeve.
I'm a music buff, I love most music... Would I be in the wrong to critique the song-writing of a miss Brittany Spears, when I'm clearly only in the market for a Sigur Rós? Alright, instead of lampooning me for sharing an opinion why not share one of your own?

OK, case-making companies. We get it. You're all making cute cases for the Air. It's getting tired now.
Note: This is not a knock on TUAW or Mat, it's Sunday after all... not a lot going on.

I find laptop sleeves, for the most part, impractical. You are never carrying around just your laptop. Whenever I take my MacBook somewhere, I bring along with it a pair of earbuds, my powerbrick, and the USB cord for my iPod in case I have to charge it wherever I am at. Sleeves just don't seem practical to me at all. =\

i don't have problem of the design. i love leather bags as i have one that carry my 12" powerbook with other stuffs, and i never use any so-called "notebook carrying case".
however this one is just overpriced...
you can find much better quality of leather products with the same price. just find one that fit the MBA is not so hard that you need to pay for a special tailor made one. and you even got a much wider range of selection when you shop for regular bags.
i just always tell people that, you really don't need to use "notebook carrying case". a lot of regular bags out there provide the same or some even better protection for your notebook (and anything) than notebook cases

Well, I don't know which one came first but a strikingly similar product has been available for a while and it's called the "iSobre" which is a leather envelope sleeve for MacBook and MacBook Air; and AFAIK is not that expensive!!.

You beat me to it FIGN!
The Isobre is a tenth of the price, (29 euros) looks really cool, and is just as impractical this one! (but its prettier)
