Apple releases official "Keynotes" podcast
When Steve Jobs delivers a keynote or other high-profile presentation, Apple typically posts a video of the event on the web and in iTunes (who else remembers when you would stream these things live? Those were the days). This week they've given these videos an official home in the iTunes Store. The Apple Keynotes Podcast [link] features three videos so far, the MWSF '07 and '08 keynotes plus the March 6th introduction of the iPhone software road map.
Check back on the evening of Monday, June 9th or Tuesday the 10 to see if the WWDC '08 keynote has been made available.

I'd also prefer live streams. Also, Apple's keynotes in iTunes don't include the HD version, which is a major bummer. I guess they can't give out bandwidth like candy.

Me too. I remember 5 years ago or whatever it was, streaming the Macworld SF keynotes with my family gathered around the computer.

Sweet. I've wondered why they weren't doing this already. It will be great to come home and actually be able to access and watch the Keynote directly on the Apple TV.

Cool. I had the podcast of the March event still in my iTunes library and it didn't try to download it again; it amalgamated both feeds!

I used to watch the live stream, and remember them not having it yet... in the years since, I have put up with choppy streams... but thankfully, this is a good way to download it and watch it without the chops! I for one like watching the video spoiler free, IE: not knowing what is is about to announce. Lets just hope that they release the podcast as soon as the stream.

this is really sweet. before this, they had each keynote as an individual podcast stream... meaning the podcast had just one keynote in it. i'm glad they finally consolidated them.

I was actually looking for this on the iTunes Podcast directory two days ago, just to have it subscribed before Monday's WWDC keynote. Nice catch!

Now if they could just get someone from the Logic/GB staff to help them use the upper 80% of their audio headroom, that'd be great. The sound is always inexplicably low. Very odd.

Wow, I was actually just thinking about something like this today, however, I am thinking way back, to 1997. It would be nice to see Apple expend this podcast to include future AND past Keynotes. Its almost impossible to find full length videos of many past keynotes. Well, this is a start though. Like somebody said though, the return of live streams would be welcome.

Apple should have done this a long time ago! But, better late than never.
This will be much easier to manage in my podcasts section of iTunes if they are lumped together rather than split.
This might indicate that Apple will increase the frequency of these keynote/special event kind of presentations.

It is 2008 - why can't they stream? Maybe HULU could do the feed - they seem to have gotten on-demand video content down pretty well...

I think the rumor at the time they stopped was that they wanted control over what was on the video -- if something happened at the keynote that was unfavorable to Apple (like the demonstration computer had a kernal panic or something) they could edit it out first. I still wish they would let it be seen live again. I remember when the Apple Store used to show it live at their theater.

Dam, 800MB per episode any chance of a smaller version?

That's going to be one hell of a wait tomorrow... Surely even apple don't have the bandwidth to let 1m punters get hold of the stream at the same time... I have a feeling I won't be seeing this keynote for about 24 hours...
