Leaked spyshots of the next MacBook?

A Taiwan-based Mac site, Apple.pro, has posted what purport to be spy shots of the next MacBook. If they're real (always the big if) the big change appears to be a move to an all aluminum enclosure for the low-end Mac portable bringing it into line with its big Pro (and little Air) brothers. The shot of what appears to be the screen bezel clearly reads "MacBook." If this pans out it would mean the end of an era, with the elimination of last Macs to sport the previously iconic Apple white plastic design.

Odd. Engadget reports on Apple news before TUAW...

Don't worry, it's usually the case.

It's a shopped macbook air. The mabook logo is slightly offcentre and to the left (there's a good proof on this on macrumours). If you add 'Air' onto the end of it it centres it.

For what it's worth, the camera on top is off-center too. Whatever it is, it's a funky perception shot.

Ok, what are we looking at?
- It clearly says MacBook down there, I assume we're looking at the front, the screen, where the actual display isn't attached yet. A normal laptop screen.
- It looks a little bent or distorted. Anyone else seeing this? Perhaps it went through some rough handling in order to smuggle it out the factory?
- The lower parts, where the whole screen normally is attached to the body of the notebook, what's up with that "double edge"? On the other pictures over at Apple.Pro taken from the back it looks like a macbook air style screen, with rounded edges, but from this side it looks strangely thick, like the front and back images don't really match. Hm...

I really hate that this thing even got posted once. The fact that Engadget, TUAW and AppleInsider picked it up is just embarrassing.

I work at an Apple authorized retailer and repair facility and after we all looked at that, we agree that it's so similar to the MacBook air display module that it probably is.
As Tony pointed out, the "MacBook" text is a bit to far to the left, making it look as if the "Air" was taken out, though I would add that the text on a MBA is darker than appears in the picture.
The other thing we were wondering about is the depth of the curve. I think it's due to the harsh lighting, but the case looks a bit deeper in the curve than the MBA.
The hinge does match completely along the bottom, including the light grey plastic bezel.
Unfortunately, MBAs are far too new for us to have gotten one for repair, so we could only compare by our demo unit and not by actually looking at the display housing.

Aluminum is more recyclable than plastic!

I work for a company that does retouching for a certain fruit-named company, and these images are fake. I've seen the real deal. It looks way better than this P.O.S.

Somebody might get fire now for commenting on the web about certain fruit-named company's product, and for blowing his own cover. lol

By "real deal", I meant the current Mac Books. :-)

There's still a plastic Mac, did you forget the Mac Mini?

Glad I got mine before they move to the ugly aluminum.
White plastic forever!
