10/14 Apple Event: Who's providing live coverage?
Unless you live under a rock (sorry if you're a TUAW-reading snail), then you have probably heard about the Apple event scheduled for today. Since Apple doesn't live-stream their press events any more, we must sit around our Macs, constantly refreshing our browsers ... just like people did in the 'ole days (personally, I can't wait for the Morse Code Apple updates). If you're inclined to follow the whole spoiler live blog thing, then here are a few sites that will be providing live coverage of the event via staffers on site:
We will also be providing a meta-liveblog of the entire event (just like we've done in the past), and will be providing coverage throughout the entire day. You can follow our updates via Twitter, and we also recommend tracking #apple or #macbook on Twitter search. The event is scheduled to start at 10 a.m. Pacific Time (see the chart below for world-wide times).
07:00AM - Hawaii
10:00AM - Pacific
11:00AM - Mountain
12:00PM - Central
01:00PM - Eastern
06:00PM - London
07:00PM - Paris
09:00PM - Moscow
02:00AM - Tokyo (October 15th)

Yes he said he is. Also he's doing live video somehow although probably not during the event, just before and after, or from outside during it.

OK scratch that. Apple won't let him bring a camera near the place so he said he's not going :(

If the Macbook Pro doesn't have a Matte screen option, I am going to be so sad. :'-(

I'm sad already because it looks/sounds like it'll be a two-tone notebook which reminds me of the average HP notebook ... and no mini MacBook, but rather a 24" display.
I might buy the display if it has the right features (not glossy, wide viewing angles without color shifting whatsoever) and I can use DVI to hook up to it.

I wonder why Apple stopped webcasting the keynotes. It used to be a good advertisement for quicktime broadcasting.

I think they stopped in large part so they can edit out mistakes/crashes or to make sure the cuts to different camera angles always gives the best presentation, etc. It's also possible they quit because they're so damn popular that the bandwidth required would pretty much melt their routers and then end up making quicktime streaming look *bad* instead of good. *shrug*
CyBeR said 12:22PM on 10-14-2008
The bandwidth requirements started getting rather insane. Even before they stopped doing it, it got choppy. And that was before we had HD streams.

They usually post a streaming video a few hours after the event, and a downloadable podcast video a day or so afterwards.
