Apple releases Digital Camera Raw Compatibility Update 2.3

Apple just released an update for RAW camera support for Mac OS X Leopard, Aperture 2, and iPhoto '08. With this new update, the following list of RAW-format cameras are supported:
  • Canon EOS 50D
  • Nikon D90
  • Sony DSLR-A900
  • Nikon Coolpix P6000
Apple also notes that this update "addresses issues related to specific cameras and overall stability." You can download this update by opening up Software Update (Apple menu > Software Update) or by downloading the installer package from the Apple Support downloads site.

Thanks for the tip, Tony!

As the proud owner of a new Nikon D90, I've been on the edge of my seat waiting for this update! Very excited. I've been still shooting in RAW and dumping the photos into Aperture any ways to keep things organized.

The only reason why this update took so long is because Nikon changed the RAW format right before release, so everyone including Adobe and Apple had to catch up.

Thanks Apple!

I will not be downloading this update. I have had to revert to an earlier version of RawCamera.bundle TWICE. Each time Apple's update has literally broken Aperture. Compared to what I've read on some of the discussions boards, I was lucky not to lose some of my images in the process. So, as always with new updates, be wary.

How would anyone lose images--RAW editing is non-destructive. Sounds like there might be more going on that just update.

I'll second the support for the Panasonic Lumix LX3. What a great little picture shooter!

Can't see LX3 support coming within 6 months of the camera's release now by which time it will be old news. Strange that Apple were quick to support the LX1 and LX2. Then when Panasonic get close to perfecting a product that is aimed directly at the Aperture users market then the love dries up and instead Apple support the P6000 with it's cynical Vista-only RAW format.

I hate these updates. They never affect me and require a restart. >:-(

4 cameras in 1 update?!?! This is pitiful. I really wish someone would support the DMC-FZ28K (apple nor adobe support it yet). It is a cheap good super-raw

What about the Lumix DMC-FZ18K? It is one of the best selling ultra zoom digital cameras on Amazon.com.

For the past couple of years, I have no choice but to use Adobe products like Lightroom. It looks like Apple is ONLY supporting the high end cameras that shoot in RAW. Pity!
