So far I do not see any difference. Still have issues with the screen. Of course we will see how it goes when I put my macbook to sleep in a bit.

Extremely misleading title...these updates are only for the Late 2008 models in the MacBook lines...

I agree.
Other sites went with calling them "Late 2008" MacBooks - just like Apple does.

Sorry for the mixup -- fixed now.

Seriously TUAW. "ALL MacBooks"? Really?
Or maybe just the Late 2008?
Think before you post! Right now you've got every person who bought a MacBook EVER hitting software update!

"All MacBook's" LIES!
My black MacBook was denied the updates for both the SMC and Firmware. And my Girlfriends "late 2008" white MacBook was also denied.

MacBooks sold within the last 2 months are the only MacBooks that matter.

I guess we know your views on obsolescence...

I doubt anyone would see immediate changes in the performance of their systems, it's going to take some time to figure out if the update actually fixed something.
Besides that, not knowing what Apple thinks to have fixed doesn't make it a lot easier to diagnose if their fix actually worked...
I still think some judge should force Apple and Microsoft to provide useful and detailed descriptions instead of the standard: "Cumulative Security Update for" or "Fixes several issues to improve the stability of," what update, stability fixes for what?!

@daenney
You are so right! I would love for someone to force Apple to tell me if this update solves my problems with USB failures and clicking harddrives on my unibody. Better still of course if they would hand over this information without a fight ;)

Yeah, this doesn't even apply to the late 2008 white MacBooks. Mine is a week old and didn't get the update.

Horrible title. A tar and feathering is due.

Way to change the title, liars.

Dude, calm down... you're mad that they made a mistake and you're mad that they fixed the mistake? Can they ever win?
Michael Rose said 9:59PM on 12-10-2008
Hey, dude, do me a favor and send in your work address -- that way Cory can go hang out there and call you names whenever YOU make a mistake.
It was incorrect, we're sorry, it's fixed.

Thank was well deserved dgrebb, way to stand up for yourself Michael. If he weren't an asshole he would have just read the previous comments before making a remark.
daenney said 9:51PM on 12-10-2008
Ohw for heavens sake stop ranting, anyone can make a mistake. What's up with the "they blog cool articles for us but when they make a mistake we bite their heads off"-routine?
Haven't you ever said or written anything that though clear to yourself confused someone else? If so, shut up 'cause you know damn well they didn't intend too and if not shut up too 'cause you've got nothing to compare with and pass judgment over.
Now could we get back to the subject, the actual updates themselves? Anyone?

I take my hat off to you sir. Too bad I don't actually have a hat on... but if I did... oh, you get the point. :-)
