Found Footage: Why we use a Mac
I'm sure it's not going to be to everyone's taste, but I think this video is really cute and it made me smile. Happy Monday!
YouTuber CBGFilms put together a great compilation of why his generation uses a Mac. Interestingly, these are the same reasons I use a Mac. Stability, usability, tight product integration and elegant design are reasons why Mac users of all all ages drink the Kool-Aid (or the unicorn tears, as it were).
Great job, Charlie!
So why do you use a Mac?

I am a mac and pc user and iphone user, and this video makes me so fucking angry.
People who hate mac/pc or just ignorant and can't see the benefits of each platform.
This video made me feel like doing my own, saying, hey i love my mac.
But my pc, would tare my mac up in terms of specs and preformance!
And LOL i like to play games, so i have a custom built computer!

Why I use a Mac:
Brought 2 laptops to a vacation home.
1. Dell XPS M1330 2.4GHz OS: Vista Ultimate
2. MacBook 2.4GHz Late 2008 Unibody OS: OSX Leopard 10.5.7
This wireless network has a simple 10-character WEP password.
-Time for MacBook to find and connect to new wireless network in house: 46 seconds
-Time for Dell to find network: 7 minutes (after it didn't find the same network while sitting right next to the Mac, I brought it into the same room as the router)
-Time to enter password: 10 seconds
-Time for Dell to tell me it couldn't connect: 40 seconds "connecting... connecting.... windows cannot connect"
-Time to let Wireless Network Assistant find the problem: 2 minutes
-Time for Wireless Network Assistant to try and fix the problem: 10 minutes
At this point, my Mac has gone to sleep, mocking me and getting bored of waiting.
-Time for me to enter the password 4 more times to ensure it was correct: 10 minutes of letting it go through the "Connecting to XXXXXX network" screen 4 times
-Time for me to shut Dell off and use Mac instead: 3 minutes of watching the magical green bar "windows is shutting down..........."
This is one of about 15,000,000 inconveniences that Windows has caused me in the 15 years I had used it. Windows has ruined at least 8 perfectly good machines I spent lots of money on because of viruses, spyware, and just the OS imploding on itself. Maybe it's just me, but I want those 200+ hours on the phone with customer service back.
Times I have needed to call Apple Customer Service in 1.5 years: 2
Times they have resolved my issue within 15 minutes: 2
I rest my case.
it fast to boot up and is good for editing videos and photos.

I don't know... but in my Windows experience, I haven't contracted viruses (other people in my family have, so I installed Ubuntu, which I have fallen in love with), I have only gotten BSODs when hardware was failing, and Registry errors? Sorry, I don't go digging around in there deleting keys. Rarely do I edit my Registry.
The only one that really got on my nerves was the guy who liked Macs for their customization. I agree - you can a lot with a Mac - but you do a whole heck of a lot with Windows as well.
Wow, this video is about a bunch of rich kids whose parents bought them their macs, And most of the reasons that were stated are all available on windows as well. Don't get me wrong I love my macs and I love the OS but this video is gay and proves nothing in the argument on why a mac is better than a pc.

I bet a bunch of those kids were faking their british accent. Or not. *shrugs*
July 28 2009 at 4:21 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyI would use a mac, but my Mac Mini locks up every day or so. Obviousy not enough memory running with Leopard.
July 28 2009 at 3:27 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyI use a Mac because it's dependable. Last night, I just had to take a nostalgic trip back to After Dark (yes, the screensaver and yes, I'm a dork). I re-assembled my trusty Performa 6360 (been sitting in pieces since 2002) and, other than an exhausted PRAM battery and having to tinker w/monitor settings (initially connected to a 23" widescreen LCD - much happier w/a 19" 4:3 LCD), it fired up just fine. Flying Toasters, Say What, Bad Dog, Spock, Simpsons Trivia - ah, memories.
