Excited about the new Macs? There's a TUAW Talkcast for that at 10 PM EDT!

TUAW is going to have a special "The Apple Store is down" edition of the TUAW Talkcast, starting at 10 PM EDT (7 PM PDT). Bring your questions, commentary, and good cheer tonight to chat about all of the new Apple goodness.
To participate on TalkShoe, you can use the browser-only client, or you can try out the classic TalkShoe Pro Java client; however, for maximum fun, you should call in. For the web UI, just click the "TalkShoe Web" button on our profile page at 10 pm tonight. To call in on regular phone or VOIP lines (take advantange of your free cellphone weekend minutes if you like): dial (724) 444-7444 and enter our talkcast ID, 45077 -- during the call, you can request to talk by keying in *-8. Talk with you then!
Recording support for the talkcast is provided by Call Recorder from ecamm networks.

Having attempted to listen to last nights talkcast in podcast form I feel compelled to comment. I really would love to listen to the hosts. I do respect and enjoy hearing your opinions and answers but publishing last night's talkcast as a podcast as is is rediculous.
The sound quality is bad enough but sufferable but adding to that the frequent and prolonged drop-outs were inexcusable. I understand that "it happens" and as a live experience, there's not much that can be done but a little time spent editing for the podcast would at least make it listenable. Perhaps there wasn't the time or this isn't the only thing you all have to do but if a thing is worth doing, isn't it worth doing right? ..or at least as right as right can be? Let's use a different solution for conferencing the hosts and just bring talkshoe into the picture for non-hosts.
I'll be there next time but please, let's work on it a bit.
Thanks
Jay, our apologies. It's our practice to hold back the 'auto-recorded' version of the show that Talkshoe produces so it doesn't get onto iTunes, and replace it with the edited version when it's ready to go. In this case, the Talkshoe version snuck out there before we could yank it back.
It was obviously not our best technical show, due in large part to the high participant count (Skype conference limit was pushed and possibly passed). We are certainly aware of how painful it must have been to listen to it in that form!
Check back in a day or so when it's clipped down and hopefully we'll have something listenable.
I'm a little disappointed. I had factored in a price discount alongside the new models. But, looking at it from Apple's perspective , why should they give discounts? they are already selling the macs like pancakes.

If you feel that way, add a petition comment at http://macmatte.wordpress.com
October 20 2009 at 2:43 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyIf you're so set on a matte screen, why don't you just spend a very few bucks on a Radtech ClearCal? They do a great job of making a glossy screen non-glare, they're inexpensive, and they can be removed and/or replaced if scratched. http://www.radtech.us/Products/ClearCal-Displays.aspx
Seriously, I have a glossy screen MacBook Air and a matte display iMac. It's surprising how little difference it makes to me in terms of using the computers. If you do have a glare issue, buy a ClearCal or something similar. That's much more useful than yet another Internet petition.
