Beta Beat: Droplr adds to the quick-share repertoire
One of my favorite features in OS X is the ability to drag pretty much anything, drop it on pretty much anything else, and have the item be contextually useful in some other application. So pervasive is this gesture that we even waxed romantically about it some time ago. An example of this would be dragging an image from Safari onto an iChat window, allowing you to share the image with one of your buddies. Enter Droplr. This tiny application sits in your menu bar and allows you to drop all manner of files onto it and share them via a variety of venues such as Twitter or email. The tagline "drag, drop, share" is about as accurate as one can get when referring to Droplr's simplicity in file-sharing. If you're intrigued, head on over to the Droplr homepage and peep the screencast they have made available.
The Snow Leopard-only app and hosting service is available now for free (as in ad-supported) with 1GB storage. Don't be surprised to see a for-pay option with no ads and additional storage in the near future. Go check it out and let us know in the comments how it works out for you.

I think you mean "waxed romantic." "Wax" in this usage ("wax eloquent" etc.) means "grow, become," as in the waxing (vs. waning) moon. People see "wax eloquent" and analyze "wax" as something like "speak' or "discourse," but it isn't.

Give it a rest. Comments in tech blogs complaining about or correcting syntax, spelling and grammer (lol) are more worthless than 'First!' posts- They add just as much to the discussion (nothing), but take longer to read.
Back on topic: So this is like a combo Dropzone/Dropbox app? Any advantages to Droplr vs DZ/DB? Can it integrate with a bit.ly account? Drag and drop of any media that would generate a bit.ly link to the clipboard would be pretty sweet.

I was about to say the same thing. It's not a linguistics class! ;)

Awesome find. Why do nearly all Mac software websites look the same? Does Apple have HIG for marketing sites too? :)

Tried the app out and there are WAY too many rough edges. Remind us in a few versions and I may give it a second chance. Really though, these coders shouldn't focus on getting their app out as quick as possible but instead fixing it up before releasing. I mean, if the app can't even upload a screenshot properly you know something isn't right.

Anyone have something like this that works well but is a bit more flexible about where it puts dropped items. FTP support would be nice. Maybe webdav as well?
