MacBook Air powers four screens simultaneously

We're going to be agreeable and assume this picture of a MacBook Air powering 4 displays isn't a Photoshop job (It's Friday and we're in a good mood). From right to left, we've got:
- An old-school, 20" Apple Cinema Display
- A 7-inch Mimo 720-S USB display
- The MacBook Air itself
- An honest-to-goodness Apple //c running a terminal session through a serial cable

December 18 2010 at 7:02 AM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyThe 20" Cinema Display runs on 120 V AC power, IIRC, which the Macbook Air does not produce, also IIRC, so clearly the MBA is not "powering" that display.
Beyond that.... yawn. Give me one million iMacs, and a Macbook Air, and I'm sure I could get the MBA to perform the feat above to one million plus one displays by just having each iMac ssh in to it. Servers are cool that way.
Nice looking picture, none the less, and nice to see a //c still in use.
Go ahead, tell me what technical limitation would prevent a million ssh connections, I dare you. I'd enjoy the education. :-)
You guys are scaring me.
The mug is not stained, it has a tea strainer cage at the top. In fact, a type of green tea is steeping as this photo was taken. Can you guess what type of green tea it is?
That's obviously a fake shot. The coffee mug is on the left, implying a left-handed drinker, yet the handle is on the right. That is a very awkward mug/handle position for either hand.
Staged.
But even if not, what's the big deal? The airs support an external display no sweat, the other 2 screens are just a bunch of text. Not very taxing.
My 2009 rev C MBair 2.13 runs 3 screens for a long time. Its own + a 20" through the display port + another 20" vis USB with an EVGA UV plus .
0 problems
Hear, hear.
My MBP has run 4 screens before (2 USB monitors, laptop screen, DVI-monitor) without blinking (also with EVGA UV+s).
I'm sure it'd be similar for a recent 13" MBA.
USB monitors are decent for coding and browsing, but won't play hi-res video or do well with games.
Can't wait for lightpeak and numerous monitors at native speed!
I have to say that I was doubtfoul about the USB EVGA+ but it works great, specially for parking all the photoshop palettes, and I find 2 x 20" monitors at an angle a lot more confortable ( and larger ) than a 30" or 27" .
