New MacBook Air models to arrive late June?

A report from Taiwan's Economic Daily newspaper claims Apple is preparing to ship 380,000 new MacBook Air units along with 80,000 old models this month. The report cites industry sources with knowledge of Apple's production plans. This echoes an earlier report from Wall Street analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.

For good measure, the same article also claims Apple is working on an iPad 3 with a high-resolution display that is six times higher than the iPad's current display. This latter claim is unlikely to happen as that is a huge jump in display technology. Earlier rumors hint at a high-resolution display iPad, but the specs will probably fall closer to the 2560 x 1600 tablet display recently announced by Samsung.

I call BS on this rumor.

1. Why would Apple refresh MBA with 10.6.x when 10.7 is just around the corner? MBA, along with any other new Macs, will ship with 10.7.
2. If iPad 3 ships with retina display, it will be 2048x1536 for 2x scaling, not 2560x1600.

Its not necessary for iPad 3 resolution to be a multiplier of iPad 1/2 resolution, that just 'worked out nicely' for the retina display on the iPhone. If competitors are shipping with a 2560x display, Apple may find the higher resolution more attractive than having a tidy upscale ratio.

2560 X 1600 is almost 6 times higher resolution.

1024x768= 786,432 pixels
2560x1600=4,096,000 pixels

4,096,000 / 786,432 = 5.2
The original report I believe stated 5-6x higher resolution, not 6x explicitly, so that would be correct.
