Somebody please help me with this.

I am running Mac version 10.6.6
So, is it really necessary to update to 10.6.8 before upgrading to Mac OS X Lion?
Because I don't feel like downloading a update of 1 GB.

Please do reply

No it's not necessary, as the App store comes with Mac OS X v10.6.6. I successfully upgraded to Lion from my installation of 10.6.6, without upgrading to 10.6.8.

I've been looking for this, but sorry if I missed it...

Pre-release, people advised laggards like myself to wait to see if there might be an update path from Leopard to Lion without the inconvenience of having to install Snow Leopard simply to the mac app store. Has anything like this emerged?

Lion breaks Mac App Store.

Since moving to Lion, neither update nor purchased tab works. I can click them all I want, but they don't work. I can log into my account, purchase a new app, and download just fine, but I can't get at updates -- including the updates for Pages and Keynote.

Any ideas on the sound issue with Macbook Pros and Macbook Airs? It was easy in the beta to change the Audio Midi output to 32 bit float, but it doesn't work with this release. Here is the Apple Support Discussion https://discussions.apple.com/message/15672760#15672760

Here's a Lion tip. After upgrading from Snow Leopard to Lion, my Mac OS X Mail app stopped being able to log in to my email account; it complained that the password wasn't accepted. I see lots of other posts from other people hitting this problem, too. At "https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3191688?start=30&tstart=0" I found a post stating that Lion authenticates differently than SL did, and that's probably what's causing the problem. My mail server is UW-IMAPD - I don't know whether this'll require an upgrade to that or a patch to Lion.

This is definitely the case for my hotmail.com account. Even using mBox Mail for Mac is no longer working.

I haven't heard mention of the fact that now, windows can be sized from any side or corner (except for the top right where Full Screen icon sits. Cool!

I just bought a new iMac with Snow Leopard.
I am entitled to a free Lion upgrade, but in the upgrade process, Apple asks for a credit card number and I don't have one.
Any ideas how I can pass that?

You might have to wait until they release the OS on a physical medium (thumb drive in this case I heard) and bring your receipt to an apple store to get a copy. Just a guess. I can see why they would want your credit card account, but I think it's a dick move to require a credit card for something included with your purchase.

go buy an iTunes gift card. It charges your iTunes account... so have a minimum in there. I do that for my daughter all of the time.
