Mac OS X 10.6.8 v.1.1 and Supplemental Update issued

If you haven't made the upgrade to OS X Lion yet, Apple has a couple updates available for your Snow Leopard-running Mac. These updates come in two flavors, depending on whether you've updated to OS X 10.6.8 already or not.

For those running 10.6.7 or below, there's Mac OS X 10.6.8 v.1.1. This 453 MB update bundles together the already-released Mac OS X 10.6.8 update with a supplemental update, also issued today. If you haven't updated to 10.6.8, that's the update you want.

If you've already updated to 10.6.8, you want the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Supplemental Update, which fixes a couple issues from the 10.6.8 update and also appears to bundle in the Migration Assistant Update that Apple released just before Lion's launch. This update is just over 10 MB.

If you're still confused about which update you want, the easiest route is to just run Software Update from the Apple Menu and let it figure things out for you.

Indeed, I still have leopard and plan to keep it until December or February.

Lion looks Great but all the new things, I don't need.

I wish I had waited. Lion mail has set me back days at the office. Lion simply isn't ready for folks who actually WORK with their macs. Snow Leopard was (is) a great OS.

Take in the greater lesson - *never* immediately update a production machine if you need to get work done on it. There's a reason why my company is still standardized on XP and won't make the jump to Windows 7 for another year or so, most likely after Windows 8 is already out.

That said, I think the new mail is pretty sweet. I felt the old mail was too noisy and unorganized, so I never really used it.

Agreed. My wife's company — a Fortune 500 company with office in 52 countries around the globe are still on XP and don't intend to upgrade to W7 anytime soon. That said, they are going to be rolling out iPads and iPhones after running trials for the last few months. the missus is well pleased.
