Creative firm declares Steve Jobs Day on October 14

A creative agency named Studiocom has started up a movement to name October 14 as Steve Jobs Day, in order to honor admire and pay tribute to the great Apple Chairman of the Board. The movement is completely unofficial, but the firm wants to get action going on social networks, and even encourage Jobs fans to dress up like their hero in real life and talk about Jobs and his work at Apple with their friends.

Sure, it may be a little weird to dedicate a day to someone who's already received so many honors (not to mention has made so much money for his company -- simply buying his products is probably tribute enough for Jobs, brilliant as he is), but then again, I often celebrate Talk Like a Pirate Day, and this is slightly more productive than that one. So if you want to join in the celebration of Steve Jobs Day, mark your calendar for October 14.

Talk Like Pirate Day is very different from Steve Jobs day in the way, that it does not create the personality cult. Pretty uncreative for a creative agency.

Um, talk about too far. While he is a great man, there's no evidence anything he's done was serving anybody but himself. I know that's harsh, but this is a man with astounding personal wealth, of which none is ear-marked for charity.

you small minded a55 clown.... quit parroting what the people who hate apple like to say, and look at facts. jobs is extremely private, and does not like to be in the public eye with his personal life. he has had several celebs now (most famous being bono) come out to attest to just how much he helped their charities.

Shouldn't it be Chuck Yeager Day?

Not trying to be morbid, but this sort of thing sounds more like something that should happen after Mr. Jobs is no longer with us (hopefully a long time from now)...

Are there days like this for other living "celebrities"? Just seems odd.

No disrespect but talk about jinxing it, you must feel bad after writing that comment...right? So, is it now okay to give this guy a day to remember him?
