Clicks Unveils MagSafe Keyboard Battery, Retro Android Phone

Clicks, best known for its physical keyboard cases for iPhones, has introduced two new products that mark a clear change in direction. Instead of building phone-specific cases, the company has launched a MagSafe-compatible keyboard battery and its own compact Android device. The announcement highlights Clicks’ growing focus on flexibility and tactile design.

The move comes one year after Clicks drew attention at CES 2024 with its keyboard case, which received mixed reactions due to limited device compatibility.

A MagSafe Keyboard With Built-In Power

The new product, called the Clicks Power Keyboard, no longer wraps around a phone. Instead, it snaps magnetically to the back of any MagSafe-compatible iPhone. It connects via Bluetooth and works across different phone models, solving one of the biggest complaints about earlier Clicks designs.

Inside the keyboard sits a 2,150mAh battery. This provides about a 68% charge for lighter phones and roughly 42% for larger models. While it won’t fully recharge a dead device, it offers a useful battery boost during travel or long workdays.

However, the keyboard adds noticeable bulk. It weighs 180 grams and measures nearly twice the thickness of an iPhone. As a result, it trades portability for extended typing and battery life.

Clicks has priced the Power Keyboard at $79, with preorders now open and shipping expected in the spring.

Clicks Communicator Embraces Tactile Nostalgia

Alongside the keyboard, Clicks also revealed the Clicks Communicator, a small Android-based smartphone designed for focused use. The company avoids calling it a smartphone, instead branding it a “mobile communicator.”

The device runs Android 16 and supports 5G, NanoSIM, and eSIM. It includes 256GB of storage, expandable up to 2TB via microSD. The phone features a 4.03-inch AMOLED display, a 50MP rear camera with optical stabilization, and a 24MP front camera.

Notably, it brings back features many modern phones dropped, including a physical keyboard and a 3.5mm headphone jack. Clicks says the Communicator works best as a companion device, though it can serve as a primary phone.

Preorders start at $399, with a $499 launch price planned later this year.

A Clear Focus on Purpose Over Distraction

With these launches, Clicks is betting on users who want tools, not endless scrolling. By combining physical keyboards with modern connectivity, the company aims to revive productivity-focused hardware for a niche but passionate audience.
