In a move few expected, Netflix’s popular Formula 1 docuseries Drive to Survive will stream on Apple TV in the United States. The agreement marks the first time Netflix has allowed one of its flagship shows to appear on another major streaming platform.

Starting February 27, 2026, Apple TV subscribers can watch the season eight premiere without needing a Netflix subscription. This change signals a rare shift for Netflix, which usually keeps its original content exclusive to its own service.

What Each Company Gains

The deal works both ways. According to page 2 of the report, Apple will allow one live Formula 1 race—the Canadian Grand Prix—to stream on Netflix in the United States. Therefore, fans on both platforms will gain access to premium racing content.

Apple recently signed a multi-year agreement to become the exclusive Formula 1 broadcaster in the U.S. starting in 2026. The deal could cost up to $150 million per year. As a result, Apple appears determined to expand its presence in motorsports.

The Power of Drive to Survive

Drive to Survive follows Formula 1 drivers through an entire season. The series gives fans behind-the-scenes access to race weekends, rivalries, and team strategy. Because of its storytelling style, many credit the show for boosting F1’s popularity in the United States.

Without the series, some observers question whether Formula 1 would have gained such strong momentum in the American market. Consequently, Apple likely sees the series as a powerful tool to attract new racing fans.

Apple Goes All-In on F1

Apple continues to invest heavily in Formula 1. The company has already added a Grand Prix circuit to Apple Maps and plans to introduce more features. Moreover, Apple aims to bring its full ecosystem into the racing experience.

Although the partnership surprised many, it reflects a shared interest in growing F1’s audience. Ultimately, both Apple and Netflix stand to benefit as Formula 1’s U.S. popularity accelerates.
