Valve is expanding its Steam Link platform to the Apple Vision Pro, opening new possibilities for gamers. The company has released a native version of the app through Apple’s TestFlight program.
This move allows users to stream games directly from their Mac or PC to Apple’s mixed reality headset. As a result, Vision Pro is taking a step toward becoming a gaming-friendly device.

How Steam Link Works on Vision Pro
Steam Link streams gameplay from a host computer to another device over a network. On Vision Pro, the app displays the game as a large virtual screen.
Users can adjust the screen’s size and curvature, creating a more immersive viewing experience. Additionally, the app supports resolutions up to 4K, offering sharp and detailed visuals.
The system also sends player inputs back to the original device. This means users can control their games in real time, even though the game runs elsewhere.
A Step Forward for Gaming on Apple Headsets
Although Steam Link enables game streaming, it currently supports only 2D gameplay. In other words, it does not yet deliver full virtual reality experiences.
However, this development still marks progress. It shows that major gaming platforms are beginning to support Apple’s headset ecosystem.
Previously, Vision Pro users relied on third-party tools to access PC games. Now, Valve’s involvement adds a more official and streamlined option.
Future Potential for VR Gaming
The arrival of Steam Link could signal bigger changes ahead. Valve may eventually introduce full SteamVR support for Vision Pro.
In addition, technologies like Nvidia CloudXR already hint at more advanced gaming capabilities. Therefore, Vision Pro could evolve into a stronger gaming platform over time.
However, no official timeline exists for these upgrades. Valve’s development pace is often slow, leaving users waiting for future features.
A Promising Start
Overall, Steam Link’s expansion to Vision Pro marks an important step for both Apple and Valve.
While the experience remains limited to streaming, it still improves access to PC gaming. As support grows, Vision Pro could become a serious contender in the gaming space.
