Apple plans to turn its latest iPhone into part of a professional sports broadcast. The company will deploy 14 iPhone 18 Pro models during its upcoming Friday Night Baseball game.

The San Francisco Giants will face the Los Angeles Dodgers at Dodger Stadium. Meanwhile, Apple will position iPhones throughout the venue to capture angles that traditional broadcast cameras cannot easily reach.

The project expands Apple’s use of iPhones for Major League Baseball coverage. In September 2025, the company used four iPhone 17 Pro models during an MLB game.

Fourteen iPhones Bring New Camera Angles

This time, Apple will significantly increase the number of phones involved. The production team will place iPhone 18 Pro units near the pitch clock, backstop, foul pole and both bullpens.

These compact devices can fit into locations where larger television cameras would struggle. Therefore, viewers could see the action from perspectives that standard broadcast equipment rarely provides.

In addition, eight of the 14 iPhones will connect through a private T-Mobile 5G network. Apple will use the phones throughout the event, not just during regular innings.

The cameras will also record batting practice and player introductions. Moreover, crews will capture footage from different locations around Dodger Stadium.

iPhone 18 Pro Cameras Take Center Stage

The timing also gives Apple an opportunity to showcase the new iPhone 18 Pro. Its camera system includes variable aperture technology, which gives photographers greater control over light and depth.

However, the phones will supplement the main broadcast setup rather than replace professional cameras. Their smaller size makes them useful for creative shots and hard-to-reach positions.

The jump from four iPhones in 2025 to 14 this year also shows Apple’s growing interest in smartphone-based sports production.

Apple Vision Pro Gets an Immersive Experience

The Giants-Dodgers matchup will close this season’s Friday Night Baseball schedule. Apple will also capture the game in Immersive Video for Apple Vision Pro.

Fans can follow the game through the Apple TV app at 10:15 p.m. ET. Ultimately, the production gives Apple a high-profile stage to demonstrate how mobile cameras can complement traditional sports broadcasting.
