Apple CEO John Ternus remains optimistic about Apple Vision Pro despite the product’s early-stage challenges. He believes the spatial computer has significant potential as people discover more practical uses.
During an interview with French television program Clique TV, Ternus faced a direct question about Vision Pro’s progress. The interviewer asked whether he considered the device a failure. Instead, Ternus described Vision Pro as an “amazing device” at the beginning of a much longer journey.
Vision Pro Remains at an Early Stage
Ternus compared the current Vision Pro era with the early years of personal computers. In his view, the technology still has considerable room to develop and attract new uses.
Early adopters already use and enjoy the headset, he said. However, Ternus also pointed to more specialized applications that could broaden its role.
For example, he said surgeons have started using Vision Pro during medical procedures. The headset can place useful visual information directly within their field of view. Therefore, it may offer advantages over a traditional monitor positioned away from the user.
New Uses Could Drive Vision Pro’s Future
According to Ternus, people continue to find additional ways to use the device. Consequently, those emerging applications support his belief in a “very bright future” for Vision Pro.
Still, the interview did not produce a specific commitment about Apple’s long-term development plans for the headset. Ternus instead focused on the broader direction of the company.
His comments suggest Apple views Vision Pro as a long-term technology rather than a product that must mature quickly.
Ternus Emphasizes Apple’s Product Focus
The discussion also turned to Ternus’ engineering background and his new role as CEO. However, he rejected the idea that his leadership represents a major shift in Apple’s priorities.
Ternus said Apple continues to focus on innovation, products and customers. Moreover, he described himself as deeply passionate about building products and excited about Apple’s future.
For Vision Pro, that outlook signals patience. Rather than judging the platform only by its early adoption, Ternus sees growing real-world applications as an important measure of its future potential.
