Widget watch: Archive films movie player

widgetWhen Dashboard was first introduced, I hoped the legions of inventive developers out there would produce some useful and entertaining widgets. We've got enough clocks and iTunes remote controls. Today I discovered the archive films movie player widget. Produced by Archive.org, it plays seven public domain films from video streams provided by archive.org, right in your Dashboard. The widget is updated every Monday with seven new films. Now that's a fun widget.

Scott, thanks so much for stopping buy. I do think your widget is a great idea. I'll let you know which films I'd like to see. Keep up the good work!

Thanks for you comments on my widget. Check out the feature films list at Archive.org and email me which ones you would like to see added to the Archive Movie Player. Thanks again, Scott

This IS a cool widget... Seems like some companies could leverage widgets to ply their wares. Along the same vein as this I'd love to see a Turner Classic Movies widget that played the movie trailer of the next movie coming up on their schedule. That'd be cool.

Someone should make a widget like this that plays iTunes music videos. Just an idea, that I don't have time at the moment to work on.
