More fun with Steve's NYC cube

The saga of the NYC cube continues. For the uninitiated, the cube in question is the huge, 5 story glass cube that will adorn the upcoming Manhattan Apple Store. Steve Jobs designed the cube, and is very much in love with it. According to a report at ifoAppleStore, the titanium pieces that hold the massive glass panels in place were recently replaced with a different material, at the request of Mr. Jobs who felt that the titanium pieces were ruining the aesthetic of the cube. Who knows how much of an extra expense this last-minute adjustment was.

Steve really, really likes his cube.

I just passed the cube at about 5:30 PM and asked one of the supervisors ( he was in a civilian shirt and a hard hat) when Steve is going to let us in. He said to come back in about a month and it should be ready. FWIW.

I heard that the titanium was replaced with green meteor rock, and that the sales people will wear some kind of blue stone pendant that will hypnotize customers into impulse buying one of everything in the store. Then, after the store profits a billion dollars in the first quarter of its operation, Steve Jobs will stand in the doorway of his Manhattan behemoth, tear off his full-head mask to reveal that he is actually Lionel Luthor. World domination will be his. Not even Clark Kent can stop him ... Or can he?

Cut to theme Music - "Somebody save me...."

It is not a cube. It is more like a dual-prisim. Steve has specially designed it to amplify his Reality Distortion Field. All future keynotes will be delivered from the cube.

I think it's pretty unimpressive that steve designed a cube...he probably should have left it to Ive and the boys to come up with a nicer cube. whatever....it's still a cube

"What is it with Steve and cubes anyways?"

It's like the TMA monolith in 2001: A SPACE ODYSSEY -- simplicity of design, like all Apple creations. And if I'm remembering correctly, the alien artifact in the short story that inspired 2001 ("Sentinel") was not black, but clear crystal.

I think Steve is secretly planning to slap a bigass NeXT-logo on it when it's done, and hook it up to some NeXT-gear and then have a really cool demo of how awesome NeXTstep Release 5 will be.
