Jobs talks media centers, recycling, and CRT's at shareholder meeting
Macworld spills the beans about what was
said at Apple's shareholder meeting, and some interesting things were mentioned. Jobs said that of the products Apple
has in the pipeline are, 'the best I’ve ever seen in my life.' He also said that he hears concerns about a media
center 'loud and clear,' perhaps hinting that Apple will be delivering a full blown media center sooner rather than
later (though that is pure conjecture). Jobs also said that the new MacBook Pros are 'bitchin.' Well said, Steve. What would an Apple shareholder meeting be without a little PC bashing? Responding to concerns about Apple's environmental record Jobs pointed out that Apple's new recycling program accepts PC's and Macs. Phil Schiller added, 'I think there are a lot of PCs that should be recycled'. Oh, Phil, you scamp!
Thanks, Eric.

Re: PVR
What Apple should really do it just open up Front Row so Elgato can build EyeTV in to it as a single module much like iTunes/QT are now. That way Apple doesn't have to pass the cost of the various types of tuners required on to all customers and we'd all be happy!
mrtotes
well, i obviously did not, hahahah.
sorry. been up 30 hours finishing a massive flash project when i wrote that.
at any rate, i still don't see apple doing a PVR. too many potienal ways for it to be hooked up: cable, digital cable, cable box, cable card, dish network, direcTV...i would much rather them figure out cheeper online delivery. gob bless them if they do it...i use an el gato eytv 500 and a 200 and love it...if you saw what it looks like though with the mess of wires though....very UN-apple.
Brian - did YOU read the article?
"We hear you loud and clear" means nothing more than "we heard what you said, and clearly".
It DOES NOT mean they will be putting DVR functionality into their macs. I personally think if you want it go with el Gato their hardware and software is fantastic. Not to mention that Apple wants you buying television shows off the iTMS.
Arkowi--did you read the article?
"Another shareholder requested that the company make 'the ultimate media center,' a ***personal video recorder that could record television programs*** [emphasis added] and share media on his computer."
" 'We hear you loud and clear,' Jobs responded."
please note he said MEDIA CENTER not PVR, i don't want everyone getting their panties in a bunch when you can't hook your cable up to it...
