Manhattan Apple Store to open May 19

You now it's going to be a big deal when Apple creates a webpage dedicated to counting down the minutes until a single retail location opens. Apple Store Fifth Avenue in NYC (yes, the one with the huge cube) will open on Friday, May 19. This store is located at 767 Fifth Avenue at 59th Street. Get there very early for a free T-shirt and an amazing experience.
We're eager to receive all of your reports, so let us know what the scene is like it you attend. It should be great.
Thanks to everyone who sent this in.

Hmmmm, I'm sure there will be a ton of attention on Apple at the time, maybe a good time for Steve to realease a MacBook? Steve has said he will be at the opening, so you never know!

Wow this sucks :( The last dance of this year at my school is that Friday, at 7PM. I thought about it and said "They'll be other dances, but this is the biggest Apple Store opening!"

The wireframe logo made me think of Robert Heinlein's short "And He Built A Crooked House." Like the unfolded tesseract house in that story, will the new Apple store implode and open hyperspatial gateways to other places, say other Apple stores? Walk in off the streets of New York and walk out into London?

Think they'll release new iBooks and iPods for the Opening? Assuming that latest rumor that iBooks are waiting for iPods is true, of course.

Joseph...so did you have a date for the dance before you made that decision...and do you have one now? :-D
How many people want to bet that we won't see the new MacBooks next tuesday, as claimed by the rumor-mongers, but that Steve announces them at the store opening?

I was there yesterday, it looks like there will be a glass moat around the cube if you will... should look pretty cool.

Joseph, the store will be open on Saturday as well.
TRUST ME on this one. Go to the dance. You have the rest of your life to geek out and go to Apple store openings.
There are only so many days (and dances) in high school. (For which we can all be sad and/or thankful all at the same time)

Being another Dan, I agree with Dan. Go with the girl, life is a random sampling of what happened from one girl to the next, you can always be a geek. Also, since I work two blocks away, I really don't want any more people crowding my space as it is.
Free commemorative tshirt WHAT WHAT!

No. The MacBooks would be announced on Tuesday, but Steve'll make sure that they're not available until Friday. So everyone will go there to buy one... BAM!

I'll be there this Friday, and I'm coming from South Jersey to do so! =D This is a huge deal for me, as it will be my first attendance at an Apple store's grand opening. I really hope Steve Jobs is there, as I want to snap a bunch of photos!!! =D
Can't wait!
