Leopard screen shots?

Powermac99 over at LeopardTracker sent me this link to some supposed Leopard screen shots. He -- and I -- can't verify their authenticity, but we've seen nothing that immediately strikes us as fake (aside from the "1983-2005" copyright on the About This Mac window, but as he points out, that could just mean that Leopard development started in 2005). And we've pretty much ruled out the "it's just a skin" factor because of the "Places" label and the "~/" mark in the Finder. There's probably a 90% chance this is photoshopped and I know you, dear detail-mincing readers, will tell me exactly why.

But hey, WWDC is right around the corner and with these screen shots we can officially declare Leopard Rumor Season open. Let the speculation begin!

I saw this one on McWorld UK too

The effects are very core-imagey but that technology is at the core of the OS - maybe it will be used.

I'd be happy with this update though: I don't totally buy it but it looks a little more likely that other candidates

Yottabyte: Tiger actually does what you're describing. The harddrive icon on the desktop won't update unless you quit Finder. Finder, Get Info, and Inspector windows won't update either unless you close and reopen them. At least never on my Mac.

Simon x: Maybe he had modified system files? Resexcellence has that kind of stuff.

Another dead giveaway, the ™ & ©section ends at 2005. In Leopard, it would probably end in 2006 or 7.

I do like the harder corners on all apps, as currently already used in iTunes. But surely - they should also show up in Text Edit...
Still looks OK though.

Anyone noticed that the scroll bar in Safari is graphite themed, while the main title bar is Aqua themed? I doubt Apple would choose that route for their next OS - there's too much inconsistancy.

Considering the computer doesn't have XCODE or any other coding software in the dock, it's fake from the start.

Of course it is fake. Apple is going to give the Finder a complete make-over. Or at least that is what they HAVE to do.

me wants a new finder

There's an obvious error that means it's a fake:
on the info window it says "TM & © 1983-2005.....".
on tiger system it says "TM & © 1983-2006.....".
HTF could a so new system result older than the last stable one?!
