Flickr Find: Things beside Steve that go "Boom"

Who would have thunk it? OSX clay pigeon bullet shells. Just put on your Mackintosh, stick an apple in your pocket, throw your gun over your shoulder and head out to the moors for a spot of OS trouble-shooting. I certainly hope that even in this pre-Leopard world Time Machine is already delivered, installed and working in this OS X implementation, just in case of any unfortunate accident in the wide-open Spaces.

Thanks Julian Berry

Certainly not a photoshop job. I was there! Go to the Rothiemurchus clay pigeon shooting ground in Scotland, and you too can fire X Cartridges.

I have a feeling that maybe this is a custom box. Looks like Hull does promo packaging for their ammunition:

Or maybe this is just a photoshop job?

"Thunk" is slang and not just incorrect usage.

Cartridges is another name which would cover shotgun and rifle/pistol ammunition.

Ahhh!! Just what I was looking for. So when my Mac crashes I can just put one of these in it to fix the problem! :) Of course why stop at one. Like RAM, more is better ;)

First off, great blog, good post on the OS X shotgun shells. I got a laugh out of it.
However (and there is always a however in life), I will second Grannies post about the proper names for shotgun ammunition. Shotguns can fire several different projectiles, but the main two are slugs and simply "shot". Shot comes in many different sizes, from BB size, up to various sizes of "buckshot". When referring to individual pieces of ammunition that we feed our shotgun with, we say shotgun shells, shot shells, or simply shell, as Granny suggested.
On another note, a bullet is actually only part of the ammunition used in rifles and handguns, so it too is incorrect terminology. But that inaccuracy is too well ingrained and doesn't stick out as badly.
Just so you know! Keep up the good work.

I know you're going to think this is being all too picky, but hey, what can I say? Shotguns (for which this ammunition was made) do not use bullets, so shells is a sufficient term. I share this because I'm sure the topic will be coming up quite often at TUAW, and you'll want the correct terminology.

Well, now I'm off to tell Brett Favre that he doesn't have a clue about saying his own name. Dude, the "r" is AFTER the "v".
