Second Apple Store planned for Italy
Italy's first Apple Store opened this past March, in Rome. Today, setteB.IT is reporting that another Italian store is planned for a mall in Marcianise. We say "planned" because the mall that will supposedly house the store hasn't even been built yet, but is scheduled to open in September of this year.If any TUAW'ers in the Marcianise area see any signs of a new store, please let us know!

hi, guys.
I come from that area of italy and I can swear there's never going to be any apple store in there.
I'm sure that italian site is pouring bsht.
first of all:
the place is in the middle of nowhere. it's such a lost venue that apple would never plan to even open an authorized dealer.
second:
in the south of italy, even in cities like naples, it's not the easiest place to find a mac.
you can go to Fnac in the center of naples and want to buy an apple laptop, they tell you "we only have this" (the display one, with dirty fingerprints etc).
third:
in the south of italy, there's probably one mac user on 500. there's no mac knowledge at all.
I hate to say that because I'm from there, but everytime I pull out my macs in public people look at me as if I'm an alien.
"What windows is this?" is what I got most of the times when people saw my screen.
now, do you believe a useless italian blog so much you have to appear like a "monkey see monkey do" blog?
I'd love to be proven wrong.
regards,

wow, one anonymous email tip really can spread. the italian blog you cite is basing its entire post on one anonymous email they received... sounds more like wishful thinking and speculation than any actual evidence.
plus, i find it hard to believe that apple would open its next store in napoli (let alone in the far away suburbs of napoli). apple computers are even more expensive abroad than they are in the states, and southern italy (basically everything below rome) is significantly poorer than the rest of the country. i doubt there would be enough consumers to make this work.
i would imagine that apple's next stores will probably be in milano and firenze (maybe venezia as well), but i doubt you'll see anything in the south any time soon.

Man are you kidding me???
Marcianise is a very small town, it makes absolutely no sense for Apple to build an Apple Store there with no stores in Milan, Naples, Florence etc yet. This is surely an hoax. Ciao

We drive by there every day, and I agree - it is a far stretch of the imagination!!!! There are however, three Mac user groups within 20 minute drives, and a certified Apple retailer/repair shop in Vomero. There are a substantial number of Mac users that I know of, and more coming. The opening of the Rome store predicts this, as well as our own experience in seeing more and more Apple computers since we arrived here 4 years ago.
We live in a small village in the mountains behind Vesuvius, and we found an Apple retailer here when we moved in.... so it is possible, but not very likely for a retail store to be built in Marcianise. We can only hope!
