I'm going to add my voice as someone who's has some USB problems after updating to 10.4.10. I don't use a USB drive, but I have found that I can no longer hotsync my Treo through my USB hub, I now must plug my Treo straight into the computer. I've tried a few things, and still can't seem to sync my Treo through the USB hub. Since this update supposedly addressed USB issues (not that I had any), it seems clear the update is causing new USB problems.
June 28 2007 at 11:38 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyMy Macbook Pro came with 10.4.5 and each time a new update came up I updated it without a hitch. Though I must have been lucky as I had never had any problems with my USB drives or my wireless on the machine (could connect to my wireless router flawlessly each time every time without dropouts or packet loss for days on end)... updated to 10.4.10 and the wireless became totally useless. Dropouts and packet loss were the norm.
Finally gave up and reloaded OSX and re-updated to 10.4.9 and voila! wireless performance back to spectacular... think I'll wait for leopard for my next update, and not before watching posts like this for a couple of days either :(
On my MacBookPro, I get long delays trying to start terminal sessions, or start X-Windows. Also, Activity monitor and system preferences take minutes to start. Once they do, they are fine, except opening a new terminal causes the same kind of hangs. Everything was fine before the update to 10.4.10 and the new security patch. :-( Have run DiskWarrior, etc, to no avail.

Seems to be an Intel Mac problem related to power saving.
Poor old Softraid 3.6 doesn't recognise 10.4.10 as a version of 10.4. It suggests you update to 10.4 or go back a release if you are on 10.3.9 or lower then quits.

Kernel Panics with Parallels 3.0
I'm seeing these too, currently going through Parallels unininstall / reinstall to see if the kernel extensions get loaded in properly. Follow instructions in forum.parallel.com
My son downloaded this update this am and it immobilized his computer. He called applecare and they told him he had to archive and re-install the OS.
Many hours later he has done this and waited through all the upgrades and updates, and his dock has gone bye-bye and firefox won't run.
Does anyone know if this version is incompatible with Firefox, and where the (*& his dock went?
thanks
Safari quits after just a couple of minutes into browsing. Every time.
Not cool.
Has anyone else had problems with Growl since installing 10.4.10? I still get the Growl boxes, but the text INSIDE of them doesn't appear any longer. There's also nothing on the Growl home page about this.
