Apple UK looking for retail employees
Apple is prepping several UK retail stores. A message on their website is calling for employees to fill slots in Brighton, Exeter, Glasgow, Milton Keynes, Reading, Solihull and Thurrock. Of course, that means seven new stores have been planned for the UK.Here in the US, four existing stores - Pentagon City (Virg.), Legacy Village (Ohio), Freehold Raceway (NJ) and Burlingame (CA) will be closed for renovations during the coming weeks.
Finally, workers have poured the foundation and installed some steel rebar at the site of Boston's future flagship store.
Thanks, Jon!

I'm very excited about the Reading store, since at the moment, the closest to me is Regents Street, and it's still a good 90 minutes on the tube. Reading is about 20 minutes away :D

All of the good guys have already left Apple UK Retail. Sad but true. You think it's going to be the best - working for Apple, then the reality of the useless management kicks in. Such a shame.

@Martyn
I was thinking the same thing. We have the Metro centre which is one of the biggest shopping centres in Europe (was the biggest last year) and we don't even have an apple store.

Seven new Apple Stores and still no Cardiff store! Its one of the fastest growing cities in the UK and yet the nearest store is about 125 miles away. A store in Bristol would be a start. Milton Keynes, Thurrock - What the Thurrock are they thinking?

Glad to FINALLY see an Apple Sotre come to Scoltand (Glasgow Store).
Hopefully it's open in time for the iPhone UK Launch as i know i'll be camped out like a super hyped fanboy!!!
I'm also relieved as i can buy apple products from the official retailer and if theres a problem then return them there rather than the dread that is Online returns (not with apple's site, but other retailers)

Some inside info I learnt from my interview..
The Solihull store is now FULLY staffed, and has been for the past few months, the majority of the staff are transferring from the Birmingham Bullring store, leaving around 20 vacancies there, hence my interview!
Also, I don't know if this is known but the Glasgow store will be the second main store in the UK, being around the same size as the Regents street store.
And finally, on average they plan to continue opening new stores every 9 days!

The Glasgow store is at the top of Buchanan Street, 20 seconds' walk from Buchanan Street Underground station, where The Pier used to be before it relocated to The Fort.
Last I heard, it was opening towards the end of August, I don't know if that's still the case.

Oh, and Stevonw: there's an advantage to buying from John Lewis (who are the nearest Apple retailer to the Glasgow store site), as opposed to Apple themselves. When I bought my iBook from them (a while ago now, obviously), they gave you a 2-year warranty as standard, instead of Apple's standard 1-year warranty.

I was expecting to see a Bristol store when the second round of stores were opened, but to be honest Bristol isn't really that desperate for a store. In fact I'm quite glad that there isn't a Bristol store as Bristol already has an excellent Authorised Reseller in Western. Western pretty much have the South West covered, with stores in Bristol, Swindon and Cheltenham.

Why oh why oh why is there not an Apple Store anywhere in the vicinity of Newcastle upon Tyne?! With all due respect to Thurrock, ask 10 people in any part of the UK where Thurrock is, and where Newcastle upon Tyne is and let's see who get's the score. We demand an Apple store now!!!

Oh my God! Seven new stores in England and STILL NOT ONE IN DUBLIN - or the whole of Ireland for crying out loud!!

I'm really glad to hear that there's an Apple Store opening in Exeter - I've not been to a proper Apple Store yet and Exeter is between home and uni so I can get there whenever it opens! As for Bristol, Swindon and Cheltenham - they're The West, not really The South West - plus I've been to the Western in Bristol and it was quite good.
Apple has very little representation on the peninsula - there's an Authorised in Exeter already, Stormfront (I had my MacBook's SuperDrive replaced there), but it's a complete arse to find. There's an Authorised in Cornwall somewhere, but that's it. It's certainly amazingly difficult to find anything Apple in Plymouth, apart from iPods of course, and I was rather hoping that Apple would fill one of the spaces in the new Drake Circus, but alas it seems they're going to Exeter instead.
