10.5.2 in Software Update right now

Apple has dropped a 10.5.2 update out on Software Update. The patch has a number of different bugfixes all across the OS, from Dashboard and Airport improvements all the way to a menubar option in Time Machine and the disabling of GrowlMail 1.1.2 or earlier "to avoid security issues fix 1.1.2 from crashing growlmail."

My Software Update is apparently taking its sweet time downloading the patch, but other TUAWers have already grabbed it and gotten rolling. Welcome to 10.5.2!

UPDATE: Chris Forsythe from Growl notified us that it wasn't a security issue with Growl.

I installed the 10.5.2 update and Crash went the hardrive on the restart. Second time an update (last time with Tiger) and restart caused a crash and hardrive replacement. Thankfully within a few weeks of the extended warranty on my G5. Anyone else with the same perplexing bug?

10.5.2 Update has been a big dud for me. I have spent well over 16 hours now to wrestle with this beast, to no avail.

First downloaded the 343 MB version. Result: blue screen. Archive and Install back to 10.5.1

Now the update was suddenly 180MB, even though I had been running 10.5.1 previously.

Downloaded and installed 180 MB update. Result: blue screen. Archive and Install back to 10.5.1 again.

Spent many hours on the phone with incompetent Apple support "experts" in the Philippines.

I'll stick with 10.5.1, ... unfortunately.

Thanks a lot Apple!

My G4 PB is stuck on "blue screen" after installing 10.5.2 update and restarting.

I've read about similar problem (due to incompatible "Application Enhancer") but posted solutions don't seem to apply in my case.
"blue screen" stall problem was an issue with people upgrading to Leo from Tiger. I've been running Leopard 10.5.1 fine since upgrading from Tiger so donno if this is the same problem.

Anybody have similar issue?

10.5.2 resets Time Machine interval backups back to 1/H tho I changed the .plist file to every 4H, it's now back to 1H :(

Can't seem to find where the new .plist is now... Anyone?

Well, the good news is that this fixed the problem with every app crashing if it had to go through our corporate Microsoft ISA proxy server.

Oh wait, no, it only fixed it for non-SSL connections. SSL connections STILL crash Safari, Netnewswire, etc.

Unbelievable.

I blogged and screencasted about the continuing TM + Airport disk problems :-(

Hmm. I *may* have set the TMShowUnsupportedNetworkDrives option somewhere in the past. I notice that it was set to 1, and my Airport disk appeared to Time Machine. I set it to 0 and now I no longer see them.

So I'm confused entirely now about whether 10.5.2 made any changes in this area. Can anyone confirm?

I'm not sure if anyone has mentioned this yet, but 99% of all the issues I've had with Photoshop CS3 since updating to Leopard seems to have been resolved! (although I've only been using PS for about an hour today, so who knows if its just a fluke, but I'm ecstatic none the less!)

I can actually change items in the top menu bar, as well as type in a font size without having to use the pop up window, and change the dimensions of the selection tool again!

This is an incredible update that solves the woes I've been experiencing in the past few months. My boss should appreciate the slight boost in productivity. I am unsure if this is a result of the 10.5.2 or the graphics update as I did both back 2 back. If anyone else noticed this fix, let me know!

Joy!

After restart, the installing process got stuck at "writing package receipt" for over 30mins, so I shut down the machine. After another restart, everything seems fine and my PB G4 is now in 10.5.2

Any same case here?

My imac G5 w/ isight had the same issue, although I had to leave it to get to work, I have hopes that by the time I get home from work all will be ok, or I'll have to restart like you did.

Well my Computer is definitely faster but it's killed my wifi. I haven't had the chance to play around yet but I can not connect to my wireless router right now.

10.5.2 has introduced a massive incompatibility with Linotype FontExplorer X. Unless you disable FontExplorer X, major apps like Photoshop and Illustrator will not open, and other apps will hang and crash (including Safari, Spaces, Dashboard, etc).

No word from Linotype yet.
